21

ΚΑΙ ἤκουσεν ὁ Χανανεὶς βασιλεὺς ᾿Αρὰδ ὁ κατοικῶν κατὰ τὴν ἔρημον, ὅτι ἦλθεν ᾿Ισραὴλ ὁδὸν ᾿Αθαρείν, καὶ ἐπολέμησε πρὸς ᾿Ισραὴλ καὶ καταπροενόμευσεν ἐξ αὐτῶν αἰχμαλωσίαν.

2 καὶ ηὔξατο ᾿Ισραὴλ εὐχὴν Κυρίῳ καὶ εἶπεν· ἐάν μοι παραδῷς τὸν λαὸν τοῦτον ὑποχείριον, ἀναθεματιῶ αὐτὸν καὶ τὰς πόλεις αὐτοῦ.

3 καὶ εἰσήκουσε Κύριος τῆς φωνῆς ᾿Ισραὴλ καὶ παρέδωκε τὸν Χανανεὶν ὑποχείριον αὐτοῦ, καὶ ἀνεθεμάτισεν αὐτὸν καὶ τὰς πόλεις αὐτοῦ· καὶ ἐπεκάλεσαν τὸ ὄνομα τοῦ τόπου ἐκείνου ᾿Ανάθεμα.

4 Καὶ ἀπάραντες ἐξ ῍Ωρ τοῦ ὄρους ὁδὸν ἐπὶ θάλασσαν ἐρυθρὰν περιεκύκλωσαν γῆν ᾿Εδώμ· καὶ ὠλιγοψύχησεν ὁ λαὸς ἐν τῇ ὁδῷ.

5 καὶ κατελάλει ὁ λαὸς πρὸς τὸν Θεὸν καὶ κατὰ Μωυσῆ λέγοντες· ἱνατί τοῦτο; ἐξήγαγες ἡμᾶς ἐξ Αἰγύπτου, ἀποκτεῖναι ἐν τῇ ἐρήμῳ; ὅτι οὐκ ἔστιν ἄρτος οὐδὲ ὕδωρ, ἡ δὲ ψυχὴ ἡμῶν προσώχθισεν ἐν τῷ ἄρτῳ τῷ διακένῳ τούτῳ.

6 καὶ ἀπέστειλε Κύριος εἰς τὸν λαὸν τοὺς ὄφεις τοὺς θανατοῦντας, καὶ ἔδακνον τὸν λαόν, καὶ ἀπέθανε λαὸς πολὺς τῶν υἱῶν ᾿Ισραήλ.

7 καὶ παραγενόμενος ὁ λαὸς πρὸς Μωυσῆν ἔλεγον· ὅτι ἡμάρτομεν, ὅτι κατελαλήσαμεν κατὰ τοῦ Κυρίου καὶ κατὰ σοῦ· εὖξαι οὖν πρὸς Κύριον, καὶ ἀφελέτω ἀφ' ἡμῶν τὸν ὄφιν. καὶηὔξατο Μωυσῆς πρὸς Κύριον περὶ τοῦ λαοῦ.

8 καὶ εἶπε Κύριος πρὸς Μωυσῆν· ποίησον σεαυτῷ ὄφιν καὶ θὲς αὐτὸν ἐπὶ σημείου, καὶ ἔσται ἐὰν δάκῃ ὄφις ἄνθρωπον, πᾶς ὁ δεδηγμένος ἰδὼν αὐτὸν ζήσεται.

9 καὶ ἐποίησε Μωυσῆς ὄφιν χαλκοῦν καὶ ἔστησεν αὐτὸν ἐπὶ σημείου, καὶ ἐγένετο ὅταν ἔδακνεν ὄφις ἄνθρωπον, καὶ ἐπέβλεψεν ἐπὶ τὸν ὄφιν τὸν χαλκοῦν καὶ ἔζη.

10 Καὶ ἀπῇραν οἱ υἱοὶ ᾿Ισραὴλ καὶ παρενέβαλον ἐν ᾿Ωβώθ.

11 καὶ ἐξάραντες ἐξ ᾿Ωβώθ, καὶ παρενέβαλον ἐν ᾿Αχαλγαὶ ἐκ τοῦ πέραν ἐν τῇ ἐρήμῳ, ἥ ἐστι κατὰ πρόσωπον Μωάβ, κατ' ἀνατολὰς ἡλίου.

12 καὶ ἐκεῖθεν ἀπῇραν καὶ παρενέβαλον εἰς φάραγγα Ζαρέδ.

13 καὶ ἐκεῖθεν ἀπάραντες παρενέβαλον εἰς τὸ πέραν ᾿Αρνῶν ἐν τῇ ἐρήμῳ, τὸ ἐξέχον ἀπὸ τῶν ὁρίων τῶν ᾿Αμορραίων· ἔστι γὰρ ᾿Αρνῶν ὅρια Μωὰβ ἀνὰ μέσον Μωὰβ καὶ ἀνὰ μέσον τοῦ ᾿Αμορραίου.

14 διὰ τοῦτο λέγεται ἐν βιβλίῳ· πόλεμος τοῦ Κυρίου τὴν Ζωὸβ ἐφλόγιζε, καὶ τοὺς χειμάρρους ᾿Αρνῶν,

15 καὶ τοὺς χειμάρρους κατέστησε κατοικίσαι ῎Ηρ, καὶ πρόσκειται τοῖς ὁρίοις Μωάβ.

16 καὶ ἐκεῖθεν τὸ φρέαρ· τοῦτο τὸ φρέαρ, ὃ εἶπε Κύριος πρὸς Μωυσῆν· συνάγαγε τὸν λαόν, καὶ δώσω αὐτοῖς ὕδωρ πιεῖν.

17 τότε ᾖσεν ᾿Ισραὴλ τὸ ᾆσμα τοῦτο ἐπὶ τοῦ φρέατος· ἐξάρχετε αὐτῷ· φρέαρ,

18 ὤρυξαν αὐτὸ ἄρχοντες, ἐξελατόμησαν αὐτὸ βασιλεῖς ἐθνῶν ἐν τῇ βασιλείᾳ αὐτῶν, ἐν τῷ κυριεῦσαι αὐτῶν. καὶ ἀπὸ φρέατος εἰς Μανθαναείν·

19 καὶ ἀπὸ Μανθαναεὶν εἰς Νααλιήλ· καὶ ἀπὸ Νααλιὴλ εἰς Βαμώθ· καὶ ἀπὸ Βαμὼθ εἰς ᾿Ιανήν, ἥ ἐστιν ἐν τῷ πεδίῳ Μωὰβ ἀπὸ κορυφῆς τοῦ λελαξευμένου τὸ βλέπον κατὰ πρόσωπον τῆς ἐρήμου.

20 Καὶ ἀπέστειλε Μωυσῆς πρέσβεις πρὸς Σηὼν βασιλέα ᾿Αμορραίων λόγοις εἰρηνικοῖς λέγων·

21 παρελευσόμεθα διὰ τῆς γῆς σου· τῇ ὁδῷ πορευσόμεθα, οὐκ ἐκκλινοῦμεν οὔτε εἰς ἀγρὸν οὔτε εἰς ἀμπελῶνα,

22 οὐ πιόμεθα ὕδωρ ἐκ φρέατός σου· ὁδῷ βασιλικῇ πορευσόμεθα, ἕως παρέλθωμεν τὰ ὅριά σου.

23 καὶ οὐκ ἔδωκε Σηὼν τῷ ᾿Ισραὴλ παρελθεῖν διὰ τῶν ὁρίων αὐτοῦ, καὶ συνήγαγε Σηὼν πάντα τὸν λαὸν αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐξῆλθε παρατάξασθαι τῷ ᾿Ισραὴλ εἰς τὴν ἔρημον καὶ ἦλθεν εἰς ᾿Ιασσὰ καὶ παρετάξατο τῷ ᾿Ισραήλ.

24 καὶ ἐπάταξεν αὐτὸν ᾿Ισραὴλ φόνῳ μαχαίρας καὶ κατεκυρίευσαν τῆς γῆς αὐτοῦ ἀπὸ ᾿Αρνῶν ἕως ᾿Ιαβόκ, ἕως υἱῶν ᾿Αμμάν· ὅτι ᾿Ιαζὴρ ὅρια υἱῶν ᾿Αμμάν ἐστι.

25 καὶ ἔλαβεν ᾿Ισραὴλ πάσας τὰς πόλεις ταύτας, καὶ κατῴκησεν ᾿Ισραὴλ ἐν πάσαις ταῖς πόλεσι τῶν ᾿Αμορραίων, ἐν ᾿Εσεβὼν καὶ ἐν πάσαις ταῖς συγκυρούσαις αὐτῇ.

26 ἔστι γὰρ ᾿Εσεβὼν πόλις Σηὼν τοῦ βασιλέως τῶν ᾿Αμορραίων, καὶ οὗτος ἐπολέμησε βασιλέα Μωὰβ τὸ πρότερον καὶ ἔλαβον πᾶσαν τὴν γῆν αὐτοῦ ἀπὸ ᾿Αροὴρ ἕως ᾿Αρνῶν.

27 διὰ τοῦτο ἐροῦσιν οἱ αἰνιγματισταί· ἔλθετε εἰς ᾿Εσεβών, ἵνα οἰκοδομηθῇ καὶ κατασκευασθῇ πόλις Σηών.

28 ὅτι πῦρ ἐξῆλθεν ἐξ ᾿Εσεβών, φλὸξ ἐκ πόλεως Σηὼν καὶ κατέφαγεν ἕως Μωὰβ καὶ κατέπιε στήλας ᾿Αρνῶν.

29 οὐαί σοι, Μωάβ· ἀπώλου, λαὸς Χαμώς. ἀπεδόθησαν οἱ υἱοὶ αὐτῶν διασῴζεσθαι καὶ αἱ θυγατέρες αὐτῶν αἰχμάλωτοι τῷ βασιλεῖ τῶν ᾿Αμορραίων Σηών·

30 καὶ τὸ σπέρμα αὐτῶν ἀπολεῖται, ᾿Εσεβὼν ἕως Δαιβών, καὶ αἱ γυναῖκες ἔτι προσεξέκαυσαν πῦρ ἐπὶ Μωάβ.

31 Κατώκησε δὲ ᾿Ισραὴλ ἐν πάσαις ταῖς πόλεσι τῶν ᾿Αμορραίων.

32 καὶ ἀπέστειλε Μωυσῆς κατασκέψασθαι τὴν ᾿Ιαζήρ, καὶ κατελάβοντο αὐτὴν καὶ τὰς κώμας αὐτῆς καὶ ἐξέβαλον τὸν ᾿Αμορραῖον τὸν κατοικοῦντα ἐκεῖ.

33 καὶ ἐπιστρέψαντες ἀνέβησαν ὁδὸν τὴν εἰς Βασάν· καὶ ἐξῆλθεν ῍Ωγ βασιλεὺς τῆς Βασὰν εἰς συνάντησιν αὐτοῖς καὶ πᾶς ὁ λαὸς αὐτοῦ εἰς πόλεμον εἰς ᾿Εδραείν.

34 καὶ εἶπε Κύριος πρὸς Μωυσῆν· μὴ φοβηθῇς αὐτόν, ὅτι εἰς τὰς χεῖράς σου παραδέδωκα αὐτὸν καὶ πάντα τὸν λαὸν αὐτοῦ καὶ πᾶσαν τὴν γῆν αὐτοῦ, καὶ ποιήσεις αὐτῷ καθὼς ἐποίησας τῷ Σηὼν βασιλεῖ τῶν ᾿Αμορραίων, ὃς κατῴκει ἐν ᾿Εσεβών.

35 καὶ ἐπάταξεν αὐτὸν καὶ τοὺς υἱοὺς αὐτοῦ καὶ πάντα τὸν λαὸν αὐτοῦ, ἕως τοῦ μὴ καταλιπεῖν αὐτοῦ ζωγρείαν· καὶ ἐκληρονόμησαν τὴν γῆν αὐτοῦ.

ΚΑΙ ἀπάραντες οἱ υἱοὶ ᾿Ισραὴλ παρενέβαλον ἐπὶ δυσμῶν Μωὰβ παρὰ τὸν ᾿Ιορδάνην κατὰ ῾Ιεριχώ.

2 καὶ ἰδὼν Βαλὰκ υἱὸς Σεπφὼρ πάντα ὅσα ἐποίησεν ᾿Ισραὴλ τῷ ᾿Αμορραίῳ,

3 καὶ ἐφοβήθη Μωὰβ τὸν λαὸν σφόδρα ὅτι πολλοὶ ἦσαν, καὶ προσώχθισε Μωὰβ ἀπὸ προσώπου υἱῶν ᾿Ισραήλ.

4 καὶ εἶπε Μωὰβ τῇ γερουσίᾳ Μαδιάμ· νῦν ἐκλείξει ἡ συναγωγὴ αὕτη πάντας τοὺς κύκλῳ ὑμῶν, ὡσεὶ ἐκλείξαι ὁ μόσχος τὰ χλωρὰ ἐκ τοῦ πεδίου. καὶ Βαλὰκ υἱὸς Σεπφὼρ βασιλεὺς Μωὰβ ἦν κατὰ τὸν καιρὸν ἐκεῖνον.

5 καὶ ἀπέστειλε πρέσβεις πρὸς Βαλαὰμ υἱὸν Βεὼρ Φαθουρά, ὅ ἐστιν ἐπὶ τοῦ ποταμοῦ γῆς υἱῶν λαοῦ αὐτοῦ, καλέσαι αὐτὸν λέγων· ἰδοὺ λαὸς ἐξελήλυθεν ἐξ Αἰγύπτου καὶ ἰδοὺ κατεκάλυψε τὴν ὄψιν τῆς γῆς καὶ οὗτος ἐγκάθηται ἐχόμενός μου·

6 καὶ νῦν δεῦρο ἄρασαί μοι τὸν λαὸν τοῦτον, ὅτι ἰσχύει οὗτος ἢ ὑμεῖς· ἐὰν δυνώμεθα πατάξαι ἐξ αὐτῶν, καὶ ἐκβαλῶ αὐτοὺς ἐκ τῆς γῆς· ὅτι οἶδα οὓς ἐὰν εὐλογήσῃς σύ, εὐλόγηνται, καὶ οὓς ἐὰν καταράσῃ σύ, κεκατήρανται.

7 καὶ ἐπορεύθη ἡ γερουσία Μωὰβ καὶ ἡ γερουσία Μαδιάμ, καὶ τὰ μαντεῖα ἐν ταῖς χερσὶν αὐτῶν, καὶ ἦλθον πρὸς Βαλαὰμ καὶ εἶπαν αὐτῷ τὰ ρήματα Βαλάκ.

8 καὶ εἶπε πρὸς αὐτούς· καταλύσατε αὐτοῦ τὴν νύκτα, καὶ ἀποκριθήσομαι ὑμῖν πράγματα, ἃ ἂν λαλήσῃ Κύριος πρός με· καὶ κατέμειναν οἱ ἄρχοντες Μωὰβ παρὰ Βαλαάμ.

9 καὶ ἦλθεν ὁ Θεὸς πρὸς Βαλαὰμ καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ· τί οἱ ἄνθρωποι οὗτοι παρὰ σοι;

10 καὶ εἶπε Βαλαὰμ πρὸς τὸν Θεόν· Βαλὰκ υἱὸς Σεπφώρ, βασιλεὺς Μωάβ, ἀπέστειλεν αὐτοὺς πρός με λέγων·

11 ἰδοὺ λαὸς ἐξελήλυθεν ἐξ Αἰγύπτου καὶ κεκάλυφε τὴν ὄψιν τῆς γῆς καὶ οὗτος ἐγκάθηται ἐχόμενός μου· καὶ νῦν δεῦρο ἄρασαί μοι αὐτόν, εἰ ἄρα δυνήσομαι πατάξαι αὐτὸν καὶ ἐκβαλῶ αὐτὸν ἀπὸ τῆς γῆς.

12 καὶ εἶπεν ὁ Θεὸς πρὸς Βαλαάμ· οὐ πορεύσῃ μετ' αὐτῶν, οὐδὲ καταράσῃ τὸν λαόν· ἔστι γὰρ εὐλογημένος.

13 καὶ ἀναστὰς Βαλαὰμ τὸ πρωΐ εἶπε τοῖς ἄρχουσι Βαλάκ· ἀποτρέχετε πρὸς τὸν κύριον ὑμῶν· οὐκ ἀφίησί με ὁ Θεὸς πορεύεσθαι μεθ' ὑμῶν.

14 καὶ ἀναστάντες οἱ ἄρχοντες Μωὰβ ἦλθον πρὸς Βαλὰκ καὶ εἶπαν· οὐ θέλει Βαλαὰμ πορευθῆναι μεθ' ἡμῶν.

15 Καὶ προσέθετο Βαλὰκ ἔτι ἀποστεῖλαι ἄρχοντας πλείους καὶ ἐντιμοτέρους τούτων.

16 καὶ ἦλθον πρὸς Βαλαὰμ καὶ λέγουσιν αὐτῷ· τάδε λέγει Βαλὰκ ὁ τοῦ Σεπφώρ· ἀξιῶ σε, μὴ ὀκνήσῃς ἐλθεῖν πρός με·

17 ἐντίμως γὰρ τιμήσω σε, καὶ ὅσα ἐὰν εἴπῃς, ποιήσω σοι· καὶ δεῦρο ἐπικατάρασαί μοι τὸν λαὸν τοῦτον.

18 καὶ ἀπεκρίθη Βαλαὰμ καὶ εἶπε τοῖς ἄρχουσι Βαλάκ· ἐὰν δῷ μοι Βαλὰκ πλήρη τὸν οἶκον αὐτοῦ ἀργυρίου καὶ χρυσίου, οὐ δυνήσομαι παραβῆναι τὸ ρῆμα Κυρίου τοῦ Θεοῦ, ποιῆσαι αὐτὸ μικρὸν ἢ μέγα ἐν τῇ διανοίᾳ μου·

19 καὶ νῦν ὑπομείνατε αὐτοῦ καὶ ὑμεῖς τὴν νύκτα ταύτην, καὶ γνώσομαι τί προσθήσει Κύριος λαλῆσαι πρός με.

20 καὶ ἦλθεν ὁ Θεὸς πρὸς Βαλαὰμ νυκτὸς καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ· εἰ καλέσαι σε πάρεισιν οἱ ἄνθρωποι οὗτοι, ἀναστὰς ἀκολούθησον αὐτοῖς· ἀλλὰ τὸ ρῆμα, ὃ ἐὰν λαλήσω πρὸς σε, τοῦτο ποιήσεις.

21 καὶ ἀναστὰς Βαλαὰμ τὸ πρωΐ ἐπέσαξε τὴν ὄνον αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐπορεύθη μετὰ τῶν ἀρχόντων Μωάβ.

22 καὶ ὠργίσθη θυμῷ ὁ Θεός, ὅτι ἐπορεύθη αὐτός, καὶ ἀνέστη ὁ ἄγγελος τοῦ Θεοῦ διαβαλεῖν αὐτόν, καὶ αὐτὸς ἐπιβεβήκει ἐπὶ τῆς ὄνου αὐτοῦ, καὶ δύο παῖδες αὐτοῦ μετ' αὐτοῦ.

23 καὶ ἰδοῦσα ἡ ὄνος τὸν ἄγγελον τοῦ Θεοῦ ἀνθεστηκότα ἐν τῇ ὁδῷ καὶ τὴν ρομφαίαν ἐσπασμένην ἐν τῇ χειρὶ αὐτοῦ, καὶ ἐξέκλινεν ἡ ὄνος ἐκ τῆς ὁδοῦ καὶ ἐπορεύετο εἰς τὸ πεδίον· καὶ ἐπάταξε τὴν ὄνον ἐν τῇ ράβδῳ αὐτοῦ τοῦ εὐθῦναι αὐτὴν ἐν τῇ ὁδῷ.

24 καὶ ἔστη ὁ ἄγγελος τοῦ Θεοῦ ἐν ταῖς αὔλαξι τῶν ἀμπέλων, φραγμὸς ἐντεῦθεν καὶ φραγμὸς ἐντεῦθεν·

25 καὶ ἰδοῦσα ἡ ὄνος τὸν ἄγγελον τοῦ Θεοῦ προσέθλιψεν ἑαυτὴν πρὸς τὸν τοῖχον καὶ ἀπέθλιψε τὸν πόδα Βαλαὰμ πρὸς τὸν τοῖχον· καὶ προσέθετο ἔτι μαστίξαι αὐτήν.

26 καὶ προσέθετο ὁ ἄγγελος τοῦ Θεοῦ καὶ ἀπελθὼν ὑπέστη ἐν τόπῳ στενῷ, εἰς ὃν οὐκ ἦν ἐκκλῖναι δεξιὰν ἢ ἀριστεράν.

27 καὶ ἰδοῦσα ἡ ὄνος τὸν ἄγγελον τοῦ Θεοῦ συνεκάθισεν ὑποκάτω Βαλαάμ· καὶ ἐθυμώθη Βαλαὰμ καὶ ἔτυπτε τὴν ὄνον τῇ ράβδῳ.

28 καὶ ἤνοιξεν ὁ Θεὸς τὸ στόμα τῆς ὄνου, καὶ λέγει τῷ Βαλαάμ· τί ἐποίησά σοι ὅτι πέπαικάς με τρίτον τοῦτο;

29 καὶ εἶπε Βαλαὰμ τῇ ὄνῳ· ὅτι ἐμπέπαιχάς μοι· καὶ εἰ εἶχον μάχαιραν ἐν τῇ χειρί, ἤδη ἂν ἐξεκέντησά σε.

30 καὶ λέγει ἡ ὄνος τῷ Βαλαάμ· οὐκ ἐγὼ ἡ ὄνος σου, ἐφ' ἧς ἐπέβαινες ἀπὸ νεότητός σου ἕως τῆς σήμερον ἡμέρας; μὴ ὑπεροράσει ὑπεριδοῦσα ἐποίησά σοι οὕτως; ὁ δὲ εἶπεν· οὐχί.

31 ἀπεκάλυψε δὲ ὁ Θεὸς τοὺς ὀφθαλμοὺς Βαλαάμ, καὶ ὁρᾷ τὸν ἄγγελον Κυρίου ἀνθεστηκότα ἐν τῇ ὁδῷ καὶ τὴν μάχαιραν ἐσπασμένην ἐν τῇ χειρὶ αὐτοῦ καὶ κύψας προσεκύνησε τῷ προσώπῳ αὐτοῦ.

32 καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ ὁ ἄγγελος τοῦ Θεοῦ· διατί ἐπάταξας τὴν ὄνον σου τοῦτο τρίτον; καὶ ἰδοὺ ἐγὼ ἐξῆλθον εἰς διαβολήν σου, ὅτι οὐκ ἀστεία ἡ ὁδός σου ἐναντίον μου,

33 καὶ ἰδοῦσά με ἡ ὄνος ἐξέκλινεν ἀπ' ἐμοῦ τρίτον τοῦτο· καὶ εἰ μὴ ἐξέκλινεν, νῦν οὖν σὲ μὲν ἀπέκτεινα, ἐκείνην δ' ἂν περιεποιησάμην.

34 καὶ εἶπε Βαλαὰμ τῷ ἀγγέλῳ Κυρίου· ἡμάρτηκα, οὐ γὰρ ἠπιστάμην ὅτι σύ μοι ἀνθέστηκας ἐν τῇ ὁδῷ εἰς συνάντησιν· καὶ νῦν εἰ μή σοι ἀρκέσει, ἀποστραφήσομαι.

35 καὶ εἶπεν ὁ ἄγγελος τοῦ Θεοῦ πρὸς Βαλαάμ· συμπορεύθητι μετὰ τῶν ἀνθρώπων· πλὴν τὸ ρῆμα, ὃ ἐὰν εἴπω πρὸς σε, τοῦτο φυλάξῃ λαλῆσαι. καὶ ἐπορεύθη Βαλαὰμ μετὰ τῶν ἀρχόντων Βαλάκ.

36 Καὶ ἀκούσας Βαλὰκ ὅτι ἥκει Βαλαάμ, ἐξῆλθεν εἰς συνάντησιν αὐτῷ, εἰς πόλιν Μωάβ, ἥ ἐστιν ἐπὶ τῶν ὁρίων ᾿Αρνῶν, ὅ ἐστιν ἐκ μέρους τῶν ὁρίων.

37 καὶ εἶπε Βαλὰκ πρὸς Βαλαάμ· οὐχὶ ἀπέστειλα πρὸς σὲ καλέσαι σε; διατί οὐκ ἤρχου πρός με; ὄντως οὐ δυνήσομαι τιμῆσαί σε;

38 καὶ εἶπε Βαλαὰμ πρὸς Βαλάκ· ἰδοὺ ἥκω πρὸς σὲ νῦν· δυνατὸς ἔσομαι λαλῆσαί τι; τὸ ρῆμα, ὃ ἐὰν ἐμβάλῃ ὁ Θεὸς εἰς τὸ στόμα μου, τοῦτο λαλήσω.

39 καὶ ἐπορεύθη Βαλαὰμ μετὰ Βαλάκ, καὶ ἦλθον εἰς πόλεις ἐπαύλεων.

40 καὶ ἔθυσε Βαλὰκ πρόβατα καὶ μόσχους καὶ ἀπέστειλε τῷ Βαλαὰμ καὶ τοῖς ἄρχουσι τοῖς μετ' αὐτοῦ.

41 καὶ ἐγενήθη πρωΐ καὶ παραλαβὼν Βαλὰκ τὸν Βαλαὰμ ἀνεβίβασεν αὐτὸν ἐπὶ τὴν στήλην τοῦ Βαὰλ καὶ ἔδειξεν αὐτῷ ἐκεῖθεν μέρος τι τοῦ λαοῦ.

ΚΑΙ εἶπε Βαλαὰμ τῷ Βαλάκ· οἰκοδόμησόν μοι ἐνταῦθα ἑπτὰ βωμοὺς καὶ ἑτοίμασόν μοι ἐνταῦθα ἑπτὰ μόσχους καὶ ἑπτὰ κριούς.

2 καὶ ἐποίησε Βαλὰκ ὃν τρόπον εἶπεν αὐτῷ Βαλαάμ, καὶ ἀνήνεγκε μόσχον καὶ κριὸν ἐπὶ τὸν βωμόν.

3 καὶ εἶπε Βαλαὰμ πρὸς Βαλάκ· παράστηθι ἐπὶ τῆς θυσίας σου, καὶ πορεύσομαι εἴ μοι φανεῖται ὁ Θεὸς ἐν συναντήσει, καὶ ρῆμα, ὃ ἐάν μοι δείξῃ, ἀναγγελῶ σοι. καὶ παρέστη Βαλὰκ ἐπὶ τῆς θυσίας αὐτοῦ, καὶ Βαλαὰμ ἐπορεύθη ἐπερωτῆσαι τὸν Θεὸν καὶ ἐπορεύθη εὐθεῖαν.

4 καὶ ἐφάνη ὁ Θεὸς τῷ Βαλαάμ, καὶ εἶπε πρὸς αὐτὸν Βαλαάμ· τοὺς ἑπτὰ βωμοὺς ἡτοίμασα καὶ ἀνεβίβασα μόσχον καὶ κριὸν ἐπὶ τὸν βωμόν.

5 καὶ ἐνέβαλεν ὁ Θεὸς ρῆμα εἰς τὸ στόμα Βαλαὰμ καὶ εἶπεν· ἐπιστραφεὶς πρὸς Βαλὰκ οὕτω λαλήσεις.

6 καὶ ἀπεστράφη πρὸς αὐτόν, καὶ ὅδε ἐφειστήκει ἐπὶ τῶν ὁλοκαυτωμάτων αὐτοῦ, καὶ πάντες οἱ ἄρχοντες Μωὰβ μετ' αὐτοῦ. καὶ ἐγενήθη πνεῦμα Θεοῦ ἐπ' αὐτῷ,

7 καὶ ἀναλαβὼν τὴν παραβολὴν αὐτοῦ εἶπεν· ἐκ Μεσοποταμίας μετεπέμψατό με Βαλάκ, βασιλεὺς Μωάβ, ἐξ ὀρέων ἀπ' ἀνατολῶν λέγων· δεῦρο ἄρασαί μοι τὸν ᾿Ιακὼβ καὶ δεῦρο ἐπικατάρασαί μοι τὸν ᾿Ισραήλ.

8 τί ἀράσωμαι ὃν μὴ ἀρᾶται Κύριος, ἢ τί καταράσωμαι ὃν μὴ καταρᾶται ὁ Θεός;

9 ὅτι ἀπὸ κορυφῆς ὀρέων ὄψομαι αὐτὸν καὶ ἀπὸ βουνῶν προσνοήσω αὐτόν. ἰδοὺ λαὸς μόνος κατοικήσει καὶ ἐν ἔθνεσιν οὐ συλλογισθήσεται.

10 τίς ἐξηκριβάσατο τὸ σπέρμα ᾿Ιακώβ, καὶ τίς ἐξαριθμήσεται δήμους ᾿Ισραήλ; ἀποθάνοι ἡ ψυχή μου ἐν ψυχαῖς δικαίων, καὶ γένοιτο τὸ σπέρμα μου ὡς τὸ σπέρμα τούτων.

11 καὶ εἶπε Βαλὰκ πρὸς Βαλαάμ· τί πεποίηκάς μοι; εἰς κατάρασιν ἐχθρῶν μου κέκληκά σε, καὶ ἰδοὺ εὐλόγηκας εὐλογίαν.

12 καὶ εἶπε Βαλαὰμ πρὸς Βαλάκ· οὐχὶ ὅσα ἂν ἐμβάλῃ ὁ Θεὸς εἰς τὸ στόμα μου, τοῦτο φυλάξω λαλῆσαι;

13 Καὶ εἶπε πρὸς αὐτὸν Βαλάκ· δεῦρο ἔτι μετ' ἐμοῦ εἰς τόπον ἄλλον, ἐξ οὗ οὐκ ὄψει αὐτὸν ἐκεῖθεν, ἀλλ' ἢ μέρος τι αὐτοῦ ὄψει, πάντας δὲ οὐ μὴ ἴδῃς, καὶ κατάρασαί μοι αὐτὸν ἐκεῖθεν.

14 καὶ παρέλαβεν αὐτὸν εἰς ἀγροῦ σκοπιὰν ἐπὶ κορυφὴν λελαξευμένου καὶ ᾠκοδόμησεν ἐκεῖ ἑπτὰ βωμοὺς καὶ ἀνεβίβασε μόσχον καὶ κριὸν ἐπὶ τὸν βωμόν.

15 καὶ εἶπε Βαλαὰμ πρός Βαλάκ· παράστηθι ἐπὶ τῆς θυσίας σου, ἐγὼ δὲ πορεύσομαι ἐπερωτῆσαι τὸν Θεόν.

16 καὶ συνήντησεν ὁ Θεὸς τῷ Βαλαὰμ καὶ ἐνέβαλε ρῆμα εἰς τὸ στόμα αὐτοῦ καὶ εἶπεν· ἀποστράφηθι πρὸς Βαλὰκ καὶ τάδε λαλήσεις.

17 καὶ ἀπεστράφη πρὸς αὐτόν, καὶ ὅδε ἐφειστήκει ἐπὶ τῆς ὁλοκαυτώσεως αὐτοῦ, καὶ πάντες οἱ ἄρχοντες Μωὰβ μετ' αὐτοῦ. καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ Βαλάκ· τί ἐλάλησε Κύριος;

18 καὶ ἀναλαβὼν τὴν παραβολὴν αὐτοῦ εἶπεν· ἀνάστηθι Βαλάκ, καὶ ἄκουε· ἐνώτισαι μάρτυς, υἱὸς Σεπφώρ.

19 οὐχ ὡς ἄνθρωπος ὁ Θεὸς διαρτηθῆναι, οὐδ' ὡς υἱὸς ἀνθρώπου ἀπειληθῆναι· αὐτὸς εἴπας, οὐχὶ ποιήσει; λαλήσει, καὶ οὐχὶ ἐμμενεῖ;

20 ἰδοὺ εὐλογεῖν παρείλημμαι· εὐλογήσω καὶ οὐ μὴ ἀποστρέψω.

21 οὐκ ἔσται μόχθος ἐν ᾿Ιακώβ, οὐδὲ ὀφθήσεται πόνος ἐν ᾿Ισραήλ· Κύριος ὁ Θεὸς αὐτοῦ μετ' αὐτοῦ, τὰ ἔνδοξα ἀρχόντων ἐν αὐτῷ·

22 Θεὸς ὁ ἐξαγαγὼν αὐτοὺς ἐξ Αἰγύπτου· ὡς δόξα μονοκέρωτος αὐτῷ.

23 οὐ γάρ ἐστιν οἰωνισμὸς ἐν ᾿Ιακώβ, οὐδὲ μαντεία ἐν ᾿Ισραήλ· κατὰ καιρὸν ρηθήσεται ᾿Ιακὼβ καὶ τῷ ᾿Ισραήλ, τί ἐπιτελέσει ὁ Θεός.

24 ἰδοὺ λαὸς ὡς σκύμνος ἀναστήσεται καὶ ὡς λέων γαυρωθήσεται· οὐ κοιμηθήσεται, ἕως φάγῃ θήραν, καὶ αἷμα τραυματιῶν πίεται.

25 καὶ εἶπε Βαλὰκ πρὸς Βαλαάμ· οὔτε κατάραις καταράσῃ μοι αὐτὸν οὔτε εὐλογῶν μὴ εὐλογήσῃς αὐτόν.

26 καὶ ἀποκριθεὶς Βαλαὰμ εἶπε τῷ Βαλάκ· οὐκ ἐλάλησά σοι λέγων, τὸ ρῆμα, ὃ ἐὰν λαλήσῃ ὁ Θεός, τοῦτο ποιήσω;

27 Καὶ εἶπε Βαλὰκ πρὸς Βαλαάμ· δεῦρο παραλάβω σε εἰς τόπον ἄλλον, εἰ ἀρέσει τῷ Θεῷ, καὶ κατάρασαί μοι αὐτὸν ἐκεῖθεν.

28 καὶ παρέλαβε Βαλὰκ τὸν Βαλαὰμ ἐπὶ κορυφὴν τοῦ Φογὼρ τὸ παρατεῖνον εἰς τὴν ἔρημον.

29 καὶ εἶπε Βαλαὰμ πρὸς Βαλάκ· οἰκοδόμησόν μοι ὧδε ἑπτὰ βωμοὺς καὶ ἑτοίμασόν μοι ὧδε ἑπτὰ μόσχους καὶ ἑπτὰ κριούς.

30 καὶ ἐποίησε Βαλὰκ καθάπερ εἶπεν αὐτῷ Βαλαάμ, καὶ ἀνήνεγκε μόσχον καὶ κριὸν ἐπὶ τὸν βωμόν.

ΚΑΙ ἰδὼν Βαλαὰμ ὅτι καλόν ἐστιν ἐναντίον Κυρίου εὐλογεῖν τὸν ᾿Ισραήλ, οὐκ ἐπορεύθη κατὰ τὸ εἰωθὸς εἰς συνάντησιν τοῖς οἰωνοῖς καὶ ἀπέστρεψε τὸ πρόσωπον αὐτοῦ εἰς τὴν ἔρημον.

2 καὶ ἐξάρας Βαλαὰμ τοὺς ὀφθαλμοὺς αὐτοῦ καθορᾷ τὸν ᾿Ισραὴλ ἐστρατοπεδευκότα κατὰ φυλάς, καὶ ἐγένετο πνεῦμα Θεοῦ ἐν αὐτῷ,

3 καὶ ἀναλαβὼν τὴν παραβολὴν αὐτοῦ εἶπε· φησὶ Βαλαὰμ υἱὸς Βεώρ, φησὶν ὁ ἄνθρωπος ὁ ἀληθινῶς ὁρῶν,

4 φησὶν ἀκούων λόγια ἰσχυροῦ, ὅστις ὅρασιν Θεοῦ εἶδεν ἐν ὕπνῳ, ἀποκεκαλυμμένοι οἱ ὀφθαλμοὶ αὐτοῦ·

5 ὡς καλοὶ οἱ οἶκοί σου ᾿Ιακώβ, αἱ σκηναί σου ᾿Ισραήλ!

6 ὡσεὶ νάπαι σκιάζουσαι καὶ ὡσεὶ παράδεισοι ἐπὶ ποταμῷ καὶ ὡσεὶ σκηναί, ἃς ἔπηξε Κύριος, καὶ ὡσεὶ κέδροι παρ' ὕδατα.

7 ἐξελεύσεται ἄνθρωπος ἐκ τοῦ σπέρματος αὐτοῦ καὶ κυριεύσει ἐθνῶν πολλῶν, καὶ ὑψωθήσεται ἢ Γὼγ βασιλεία αὐτοῦ, καὶ αὐξηθήσεται βασιλεία αὐτοῦ.

8 Θεὸς ὡδήγησεν αὐτὸν ἐξ Αἰγύπτου, ὡς δόξα μονοκέρωτος αὐτῷ· ἔδεται ἔθνη ἐχθρῶν αὐτοῦ καὶ τὰ πάχη αὐτῶν ἐκμυελιεῖ καὶ ταῖς βολίσιν αὐτοῦ κατατοξεύσει ἐχθρόν·

9 κατακλιθεὶς ἀνεπαύσατο ὡς λέων καὶ ὡς σκύμνος· τίς ἀναστήσει αὐτόν; οἱ εὐλογοῦντές σε εὐλόγηνται, καὶ οἱ καταρώμενοί σε κεκατήρανται.

10 καὶ ἐθυμώθη Βαλὰκ ἐπὶ Βαλαὰμ καὶ συνεκρότησε ταῖς χερσὶν αὐτοῦ, καὶ εἶπε Βαλὰκ πρὸς Βαλαάμ· καταρᾶσθαι τὸν ἐχθρόν μου κέκληκά σε, καὶ ἰδοὺ εὐλογῶν εὐλόγησας τρίτον τοῦτο·

11 νῦν οὖν φεῦγε εἰς τὸν τόπον σου· εἶπα, τιμήσω σε, καὶ νῦν ἐστέρησέ σε Κύριος τῆς δόξης.

12 καὶ εἶπε Βαλαὰμ πρὸς Βαλάκ· οὐχὶ καὶ τοῖς ἀγγέλοις σου, οὓς ἀπέστειλας πρός με, ἐλάλησα λέγων·

13 ἐάν μοι δῷ Βαλὰκ πλήρη τὸν οἶκον αὐτοῦ ἀργυρίου καὶ χρυσίου, οὐ δυνήσομαι παραβῆναι τὸ ρῆμα Κυρίου ποιῆσαι αὐτὸ καλὸν ἢ πονηρὸν παρ' ἐμαυτοῦ· ὅσα ἐὰν εἴπῃ ὁ Θεός, ταῦτα ἐρῶ.

14 καὶ νῦν ἰδοὺ ἀποτρέχω εἰς τὸν τόπον μου· δεῦρο συμβουλεύσω σοι, τί ποιήσει ὁ λαὸς οὗτος τὸν λαόν σου ἐπ' ἐσχάτου τῶν ἡμερῶν.

15 καὶ ἀναλαβὼν τὴν παραβολὴν αὐτοῦ εἶπε· φυσὶ Βαλαὰμ υἱὸς Βεώρ, φησὶν ὁ ἄνθρωπος ὁ ἀληθινῶς ὁρῶν,

16 ἀκούων λόγια Θεοῦ, ἐπιστάμενος ἐπιστήμην παρὰ ὑψίστου καὶ ὅρασιν Θεοῦ ἰδὼν ἐν ὕπνῳ, ἀποκεκαλυμμένοι οἱ ὀφθαλμοὶ αὐτοῦ·

17 δείξω αὐτῷ, καὶ οὐχὶ νῦν· μακαρίζω, καὶ οὐκ ἐγγίζει· ἀνατελεῖ ἄστρον ἐξ ᾿Ιακώβ, ἀναστήσεται ἄνθρωπος ἐξ ᾿Ισραὴλ καὶ θραύσει τοὺς ἀρχηγοὺς Μωὰβ καὶ προνομεύσει πάντας υἱοὺς Σήθ.

18 καὶ ἔσται ᾿Εδὼμ κληρονομία, καὶ ἔσται κληρονομία ῾Ησαῦ ὁ ἐχθρὸς αὐτοῦ· καὶ ᾿Ισραὴλ ἐποίησεν ἐν ἰσχύϊ.

19 καὶ ἐξεγερθήσεται ἐξ ᾿Ιακὼβ καὶ ἀπολεῖ σῳζόμενον ἐκ πόλεως.

20 καὶ ἰδὼν τὸν ᾿Αμαλὴκ καὶ ἀναλαβὼν τὴν παραβολὴν αὐτοῦ εἶπεν· ἀρχὴ ἐθνῶν ᾿Αμαλήκ, καὶ τὸ σπέρμα αὐτῶν ἀπολεῖται.

21 καὶ ἰδὼν τὸν Κεναῖον καὶ ἀναλαβὼν τὴν παραβολὴν αὐτοῦ εἶπεν· ἰσχυρὰ ἡ κατοικία σου· καὶ ἐὰν θῇς ἐν πέτρᾳ τὴν νοσσιάν σου,

22 καὶ ἐὰν γένηται τῷ Βεὼρ νοσσιὰ πανουργίας, ᾿Ασσύριοι αἰχμαλωτεύσουσί σε.

23 καὶ ἰδὼν τὸν ῍Ωγ καὶ ἀναλαβὼν τὴν παραβολὴν αὐτοῦ εἶπεν· ὦ ὦ, τίς ζήσεται, ὅταν θῇ ταῦτα ὁ Θεός;

24 καὶ ἐξελεύσεται ἐκ χειρῶν Κιτιαίων καὶ κακώσουσιν ᾿Ασσοὺρ καὶ κακώσουσιν ῾Εβραίους, καὶ αὐτοὶ ὁμοθυμαδὸν ἀπολοῦνται.

25 καὶ ἀναστὰς Βαλαὰμ ἀπῆλθεν ἀποστραφεὶς εἰς τὸν τόπον αὐτοῦ, καὶ Βαλὰκ ἀπῆλθε πρὸς ἑαυτόν.

ΚΑΙ κατέλυσεν ᾿Ισραὴλ ἐν Σαττείν· καὶ ἐβεβηλώθη ὁ λαὸς ἐκπορνεῦσαι εἰς τὰς θυγατέρας Μωάβ.

2 καὶ ἐκάλεσαν αὐτοὺς εἰς τὰς θυσίας τῶν εἰδώλων αὐτῶν, καὶ ἔφαγεν ὁ λαὸς τῶν θυσιῶν αὐτῶν καὶ προσεκύνησαν τοῖς εἰδώλοις αὐτῶν.

3 καὶ ἐτελέσθη ᾿Ισραὴλ τῷ Βεελφεγώρ· καὶ ὠργίσθη θυμῷ Κύριος τῷ ᾿Ισραήλ.

4 καὶ εἶπε Κύριος τῷ Μωυσῇ· λαβὲ πάντας τοὺς ἀρχηγοὺς τοῦ λαοῦ καὶ παραδειγμάτισον αὐτοὺς Κυρίῳ κατέναντι τοῦ ἡλίου, καὶ ἀποστραφήσεται ὀργὴ θυμοῦ Κυρίου ἀπὸ ᾿Ισραήλ.

5 καὶ εἶπε Μωυσῆς ταῖς φυλαῖς ᾿Ισραήλ· ἀποκτείνατε ἕκαστος τὸν οἰκεῖον αὐτοῦ τὸν τετελεσμένον τῷ Βεελφεγώρ.

6 Καὶ ἰδοὺ ἄνθρωπος τῶν υἱῶν ᾿Ισραὴλ ἐλθὼν προσήγαγε τὸν ἀδελφὸν αὐτοῦ πρὸς τὴν Μαδιανῖτιν ἐναντίον Μωυσῆ καὶ ἐναντίον πάσης συναγωγῆς υἱῶν ᾿Ισραήλ, αὐτοὶ δὲ ἔκλαιον παρὰ τὴν θύραν τῆς σκηνῆς τοῦ μαρτυρίου.

7 καὶ ἰδὼν Φινεὲς υἱὸς ᾿Ελεάζαρ υἱοῦ ᾿Ααρὼν τοῦ ἱερέως ἐξανέστη ἐκ μέσου τῆς συναγωγῆς καὶ λαβὼν σειρομάστην ἐν τῇ χειρὶ

8 εἰσῆλθεν ὀπίσω τοῦ ἀνθρώπου τοῦ ᾿Ισραηλίτου εἰς τὴν κάμινον καὶ ἀπεκέντησεν ἀμφοτέρους, τόν τε ἄνθρωπον τὸν ᾿Ισραηλίτην καὶ τὴν γυναῖκα διὰ τῆς μήτρας αὐτῆς· καὶ ἐπαύσατο ἡ πληγὴ ἀπὸ υἱῶν ᾿Ισραήλ.

9 καὶ ἐγένοντο οἱ τεθνηκότες ἐν τῇ πληγῇ τέσσαρες καὶ εἴκοσι χιλιάδες.

10 Καὶ ἐλάλησε Κύριος πρὸς Μωυσῆν λέγων·

11 Φινεὲς υἱὸς ᾿Ελεάζαρ υἱοῦ ᾿Ααρὼν τοῦ ἱερέως κατέπαυσε τὸν θυμόν μου ἀπὸ υἱῶν ᾿Ισραὴλ ἐν τῷ ζηλῶσαί μου τὸν ζῆλον ἐν αὐτοῖς, καὶ οὐκ ἐξανήλωσα τοὺς υἱοὺς ᾿Ισραὴλ ἐν τῷ ζήλῳ μου.

12 οὕτως εἶπον· ἰδοὺ ἐγὼ δίδωμι αὐτῷ διαθήκην εἰρήνης,

13 καὶ ἔσται αὐτῷ καὶ τῷ σπέρματι αὐτοῦ μετ' αὐτὸν διαθήκη ἱερατείας αἰωνία, ἀνθ' ὧν ἐζήλωσε τῷ Θεῷ αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐξιλάσατο περὶ τῶν υἱῶν ᾿Ισραήλ.

14 τὸ δὲ ὄνομα τοῦ ἀνθρώπου τοῦ ᾿Ισραηλίτου τοῦ πεπληγότος, ὃς ἐπλήγη μετὰ τῆς Μαδιανίτιδος, Ζαμβρὶ υἱὸς Σαλώ, ἄρχων οἴκου πατριᾶς τῶν Συμεών·

15 καὶ ὄνομα τῇ γυναικὶ τῇ Μαδιανίτιδι τῇ πεπληγυίᾳ Χασβί, θυγάτηρ Σοὺρ ἄρχοντος ἔθνους ᾿Ομμώθ, οἴκου πατριᾶς ἐστι τῶν Μαδιάμ.

16 Καὶ ἐλάλησε Κύριος πρὸς Μωυσῆν λέγων· λάλησον τοῖς υἱοῖς ᾿Ισραὴλ λέγων·

17 ἐχθραίνετε τοῖς Μαδιηναίοις καὶ πατάξατε αὐτούς,

18 ὅτι ἐχθραίνουσιν αὐτοὶ ὑμῖν ἐν δολιότητι, ὅσα δολιοῦσιν ὑμᾶς διὰ Φογὼρ καὶ διὰ Χασβὶ θυγατέρα ἄρχοντος Μαδιὰμ ἀδελφὴν αὐτῶν τὴν πεπληγυῖαν ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ τῆς πληγῆς διὰ Φογώρ.

ΚΑΙ ἐγένετο μετὰ τὴν πληγὴν καὶ ἐλάλησε Κύριος πρὸς Μωυσῆν καὶ ᾿Ελεάζαρ τὸν ἱερέα λέγων·

2 λαβὲ τὴν ἀρχὴν πάσης συναγωγῆς υἱῶν ᾿Ισραὴλ ἀπὸ εἰκοσαετοῦς καὶ ἐπάνω κατ' οἴκους πατριῶν αὐτῶν, πᾶς ὁ ἐκπορευόμενος παρατάξασθαι ἐν ᾿Ισραήλ.

3 καὶ ἐλάλησε Μωυσῆς καὶ ᾿Ελεάζαρ ὁ ἱερεὺς ἐν ᾿Αραβὼθ Μωὰβ ἐπὶ τοῦ ᾿Ιορδάνου κατὰ ῾Ιεριχὼ λέγων·

4 ἀπὸ εἰκοσαετοῦς καὶ ἐπάνω, ὃν τρόπον συνέταξε Κύριος τῷ Μωυσῇ. καὶ οἱ υἱοὶ ᾿Ισραὴλ οἱ ἐξελθόντες ἐξ Αἰγύπτου·

5 Ρουβὴν πρωτότοκος ᾿Ισραήλ. υἱοὶ δὲ Ρουβήν· ᾿Ενὼχ καὶ δῆμος τοῦ ᾿Ενώχ· τῷ Φαλλοὺ δῆμος τοῦ Φαλλουΐ·

6 τῷ ᾿Ασρὼν δῆμος τοῦ ᾿Ασρωνί· τῷ Χαρμὶ δῆμος τοῦ Χαρμί.

7 οὗτοι δῆμοι Ρουβήν· καὶ ἐγένετο ἡ ἐπίσκεψις αὐτῶν τρεῖς καὶ τεσσαράκοντα χιλιάδες καὶ ἑπτακόσιοι καὶ τριάκοντα.

8 καὶ υἱοὶ Φαλλοὺ ῾Ελιάβ.

9 καὶ υἱοὶ ῾Ελιάβ· Ναμουὴλ καὶ Δαθὰν καὶ ᾿Αβειρών· οὗτοι ἐπίκλητοι τῆς συναγωγῆς, οὗτοί εἰσιν οἱ ἐπισυστάντες ἐπὶ Μωυσῆν καὶ ᾿Ααρὼν ἐν τῇ συναγωγῇ Κορέ, ἐν τῇ ἐπισυστάσει Κυρίου,

10 καὶ ἀνοίξασα ἡ γῆ τὸ στόμα αὐτῆς κατέπιεν αὐτοὺς καὶ Κορὲ ἐν τῷ θανάτῳ τῆς συναγωγῆς αὐτοῦ, ὅτε κατέφαγε τὸ πῦρ τοὺς πεντήκοντα καὶ διακοσίους, καὶ ἐγενήθησαν ἐν σημείῳ,

11 οἱ δὲ υἱοὶ Κορὲ οὐκ ἀπέθανον.

12 καὶ οἱ υἱοὶ Συμεών· ὁ δῆμος τῶν υἱῶν Συμεών· τῷ Ναμουὴλ δῆμος ὁ Ναμουηλί· τῷ ᾿Ιαμὶν δῆμος ὁ ᾿Ιαμινί· τῷ ᾿Ιαχὶν δῆμος ᾿Ιαχινί·

13 τῷ Ζαρὰ δῆμος ὁ Ζαραΐ· τῷ Σαοὺλ δῆμος ὁ Σαουλί.

14 οὗτοι δῆμοι Συμεὼν ἐκ τῆς ἐπισκέψεως αὐτῶν, δύο καὶ εἴκοσι χιλιάδες καὶ διακόσιοι.

15 υἱοὶ δὲ ᾿Ιούδα· ῍Ηρ καὶ Αὐνάν· καὶ ἀπέθανεν ῍Ηρ καὶ Αὐνὰν ἐν γῇ Χαναάν.

16 καὶ ἐγένοντο οἱ υἱοὶ ᾿Ιούδα κατὰ δήμους αὐτῶν· τῷ Σηλὼμ δῆμος ὁ Σηλωνί· τῷ Φαρὲς δῆμος ὁ Φαρεσί· τῷ Ζαρὰ δῆμος ὁ Ζαραΐ.

17 καὶ ἐγένοντο οἱ υἱοὶ Φαρές· τῷ ᾿Ασρὼν δῆμος ὁ ᾿Ασρωνί· τῷ ᾿Ιαμούν, δῆμος ὁ ᾿Ιαμουνί.

18 οὗτοι δῆμοι τοῦ ᾿Ιούδα κατὰ τὴν ἐπίσκεψιν αὐτῶν, ἓξ καὶ ἑβδομήκοντα χιλιάδες καὶ πεντακόσιοι.

19 καὶ υἱοὶ ᾿Ισσάχαρ κατὰ δήμους αὐτῶν· τῷ Θωλᾷ δῆμος ὁ Θωλαΐ· τῷ Φουᾷ δῆμος ὁ Φουαΐ·

20 τῷ ᾿Ιασοὺβ δῆμος ὁ ᾿Ιασουβί· τῷ Σαμρὰμ δῆμος ὁ Σαμραμί.

21 οὗτοι δῆμοι ᾿Ισσάχαρ ἐξ ἐπισκέψεως αὐτῶν, τέσσαρες καὶ ἑξήκοντα χιλιάδες καὶ τετρακόσιοι.

22 υἱοὶ Ζαβουλὼν κατὰ δήμους αὐτῶν· τῷ Σαρὲδ δῆμος ὁ Σαρεδί· τῷ ᾿Αλλὼν δῆμος ὁ ᾿Αλλωνί· τῷ ᾿Αλλὴλ δῆμος ὁ ᾿Αλληλί·

23 οὗτοι δῆμοι Ζαβουλὼν ἐξ ἐπισκέψεως αὐτῶν, ἑξήκοντα χιλιάδες καὶ πεντακόσιοι.

24 υἱοὶ Γὰδ κατὰ δήμους αὐτῶν· τῷ Σαφὼν δῆμος ὁ Σαφωνί· τῷ ᾿Αγγὶ δῆμος ὁ ᾿Αγγί· τῷ Σουνὶ δῆμος ὁ Σουνί·

25 τῷ ᾿Αζενὶ δῆμος ὁ ᾿Αζενί· τῷ ᾿Αδδὶ δῆμος ὁ ᾿Αδδί·

26 τῷ ᾿Αροαδὶ δῆμος ὁ ᾿Αροαδί· τῷ ᾿Αριὴλ δῆμος ὁ ᾿Αριηλί.

27 οὗτοι δῆμοι υἱῶν Γὰδ ἐξ ἐπισκέψεως αὐτῶν, τέσσαρες καὶ τεσσαράκοντα χιλιάδες καὶ πεντακόσιοι.

28 υἱοὶ ᾿Ασὴρ κατὰ δήμους αὐτῶν· τῷ ᾿Ιαμὶν δῆμος ὁ ᾿Ιαμινί· τῷ ᾿Ιεσοὺ δῆμος ὁ ᾿Ιεσουΐ· τῷ Βαριὰ δῆμος ὁ Βαριαΐ·

29 τῷ Χοβὲρ δῆμος ὁ Χοβερί· τῷ Μελχιὴλ δῆμος ὁ Μελχιηλί.

30 καὶ τὸ ὄνομα θυγατρὸς ᾿Ασὴρ Σάρα.

31 οὗτοι δῆμοι ᾿Ασὴρ ἐξ ἐπισκέψεως αὐτῶν, τρεῖς καὶ τεσσαράκοντα χιλιάδες καὶ τετρακόσιοι.

32 υἱοὶ ᾿Ιωσὴφ κατὰ δήμους αὐτῶν· Μανασσῆ καὶ ᾿Εφραίμ.

33 υἱοὶ Μανασσῆ· τῷ Μαχὶρ δῆμος ὁ Μαχιρί· καὶ Μαχὶρ ἐγέννησε τὸν Γαλαάδ· τῷΓαλαὰδ δῆμος ὁ Γαλααδί.

34 καὶ οὗτοι υἱοὶ Γαλαάδ· ᾿Αχιέζερ δῆμος ὁ ᾿Αχιεζερί· τῷ Χελὲγ δῆμος ὁ Χελεγί·

35 τῷ ᾿Εσριὴλ δῆμος ὁ ᾿Εσριηλί· τῷ Συχὲμ δῆμος ὁ Συχεμί·

36 τῷ Συμαὲρ δῆμος ὁ Συμαερί· καὶ τῷ ᾿Οφὲρ δῆμος ὁ ᾿Οφερί·

37 καὶ τῷ Σαλπαὰδ υἱῷ ᾿Οφὲρ οὐκ ἐγένοντο αὐτῷ υἱοί, ἀλλ' ἢ θυγατέρες, καὶ ταῦτα τὰ ὀνόματα τῶν θυγατέρων Σαλπαάδ· Μαλὰ καὶ Νουὰ καὶ ᾿Εγλὰ καὶ Μελχὰ καὶ Θερσά.

38 οὗτοι δῆμοι Μανασσῆ ἐξ ἐπισκέψεως αὐτῶν, δύο καὶ πεντήκοντα χιλιάδες καὶ ἑπτακόσιοι.

39 καὶ οὗτοι υἱοὶ ᾿Εφραίμ· τῷ Σουθαλὰ δῆμος ὁ Σουθαλαΐ· τῷ Τανὰχ δῆμος ὁ Ταναχί.

40 οὗτοι υἱοὶ Σουθαλά· τῷ ᾿Εδὲν δῆμος ὁ ᾿Εδενί.

41 οὗτοι δῆμοι ᾿Εφραὶμ ἐξ ἐπισκέψεως αὐτῶν, δύο καὶ τριάκοντα χιλιάδες καὶ πεντακόσιοι. οὗτοι δῆμοι υἱῶν ᾿Ιωσὴφ κατὰ δήμους αὐτῶν.

42 υἱοὶ Βενιαμὶν κατὰ δήμους αὐτῶν· τῷ Βαλὲ δῆμος ὁ Βαλί· τῷ ᾿Ασυβὴρ δῆμος ὁ ᾿Ασυβηρί· τῷ ᾿Ιαχιρὰν δῆμος ὁ ᾿Ιαχιρανί·

43 τῷ Σωφὰν δῆμος ὁ Σωφανί.

44 καὶ ἐγένοντο οἱ υἱοὶ Βαλὲ ᾿Αδὰρ καὶ Νοεμάν· τῷ ᾿Αδὰρ δῆμος ὁ ᾿Αδαρὶ καὶ τῷ Νοεμὰν δῆμος ὁ Νοεμανί.

45 οὗτοι οἱ υἱοὶ Βενιαμὶν κατὰ δήμους αὐτῶν ἐξ ἐπισκέψεως αὐτῶν, πέντε καὶ τριάκοντα χιλιάδες καὶ πεντακόσιοι.

46 καὶ υἱοὶ Δὰν κατὰ δήμους αὐτῶν· τῷ Σαμὲ δῆμος ὁ Σαμεΐ· οὗτοι δῆμοι Δὰν κατὰ δήμους αὐτῶν.

47 πάντες οἱ δῆμοι Σαμεΐ κατ' ἐπισκοπὴν αὐτῶν τέσσαρες καὶ ἑξήκοντα χιλιάδες καὶ τετρακόσιοι.

48 υἱοὶ Νεφθαλὶ κατὰ δήμους αὐτῶν· τῷ ᾿Ασιὴλ δῆμος ὁ ᾿Ασιηλί· τῷ Γαυνὶ δῆμος ὁ Γαυνί·

49 τῷ ᾿Ιεσὲρ δῆμος ὁ ᾿Ιεσερί· τῷ Σελλὴμ δῆμος ὁ Σελλημί.

50 οὗτοι δῆμοι Νεφθαλὶ ἐξ ἐπισκέψεως αὐτῶν, τεσσαράκοντα χιλιάδες καὶ τριακόσιοι.

51 αὕτη ἡ ἐπίσκεψις υἱῶν ᾿Ισραήλ, ἑξακόσιαι χιλιάδες καὶ χίλιοι καὶ ἑπτακόσιοι καὶ τριάκοντα.

52 Καὶ ἐλάλησε Κύριος πρὸς Μωυσῆν λέγων·

53 τούτοις μερισθήσεται ἡ γῆ κληρονομεῖν ἐξ ἀριθμοῦ ὀνομάτων·

54 τοῖς πλείοσι πλεονάσεις τὴν κληρονομίαν καὶ τοῖς ἐλάττοσιν ἐλαττώσεις τὴν κληρονομίαν αὐτῶν· ἑκάστῳ καθὼς ἐπεσκέπησαν, δοθήσεται ἡ κληρονομία αὐτῶν.

55 διὰ κλήρων μερισθήσεται ἡ γῆ· τοῖς ὀνόμασι, κατὰ φυλὰς πατριῶν αὐτῶν κληρονομήσουσιν·

56 ἐκ τοῦ κλήρου μεριεῖς τὴν κληρονομίαν αὐτῶν ἀνὰ μέσων πολλῶν καὶ ὀλίγων.

57 Καὶ υἱοὶ Λευὶ κατὰ δήμους αὐτῶν· τῷ Γεδσὼν δῆμος ὁ Γεδσωνί· τῷ Καὰθ δῆμος ὁ Κααθί· τῷ Μεραρὶ δῆμος ὁ Μεραρί.

58 οὗτοι οἱ δῆμοι υἱῶν Λευί· δῆμος ὁ Λοβενί, δῆμος ὁ Χεβρωνί, δῆμος ὁ Κορὲ καὶ δῆμος ὁ Μουσί. καὶ Καὰθ ἐγέννησε τὸν ᾿Αμράμ.

59 τὸ δέ ὄνομα τῆς γυναικὸς αὐτοῦ ᾿Ιωχαβέδ, θυγάτηρ Λευί, ἣ ἔτεκε τούτους τῷ Λευΐ ἐν Αἰγύπτῳ· καὶ ἔτεκε τῷ ᾿Αμρὰμ τὸν ᾿Ααρὼν καὶ Μωυσῆν καὶ Μαριὰμ τὴν ἀδελφὴν αὐτῶν.

60 καὶ ἐγεννήθησαν τῷ ᾿Ααρὼν ὅ τε Ναδὰβ καὶ ᾿Αβιοὺδ καὶ ᾿Ελεάζαρ καὶ ᾿Ιθάμαρ.

61 καὶ ἀπέθανε Ναδὰβ καὶ ᾿Αβιοὺδ ἐν τῷ προσφέρειν αὐτοὺς πῦρ ἀλλότριον ἔναντι Κυρίου ἐν τῇ ἐρήμῳ Σινά.

62 καὶ ἐγενήθησαν ἐξ ἐπισκέψεως αὐτῶν τρεῖς καὶ εἴκοσι χιλιάδες, πᾶν ἀρσενικὸν ἀπὸ μηνιαίου καὶ ἐπάνω· οὐ γὰρ συνεπεσκέπησαν ἐν μέσῳ υἱῶν ᾿Ισραήλ, ὅτι οὐ δίδοται αὐτοῖς κλῆρος ἐν μέσῳ υἱῶν ᾿Ισραήλ.

63 καὶ αὕτη ἡ ἐπίσκεψις Μωυσῆ καὶ ᾿Ελεάζαρ τοῦ ἱερέως, οἳ ἐπεσκέψαντο τοὺς υἱοὺς ᾿Ισραὴλ ἐν ᾿Αραβὼθ Μωάβ, ἐπὶ τοῦ ᾿Ιορδάνου κατὰ ῾Ιεριχώ.

64 καὶ ἐν τούτοις οὐκ ἦν ἄνθρωπος τῶν ἐπεσκεμμένων ὑπὸ Μωυσῆ καὶ ᾿Ααρών, οὓς ἐπεσκέψαντο τοὺς υἱοὺς ᾿Ισραὴλ ἐν τῇ ἐρήμῳ Σινά·

65 ὅτι εἶπε Κύριος αὐτοῖς· θανάτῳ ἀποθανοῦνται ἐν τῇ ἐρήμῳ· καὶ οὐ κατελείφθη ἐξ αὐτῶν οὐδὲ εἷς, πλὴν Χάλεβ υἱὸς ᾿Ιεφοννὴ καὶ ᾿Ιησοῦς ὁ τοῦ Ναυή.

ΚΑΙ προσελθοῦσαι αἱ θυγατέρες Σαλπαὰδ υἱοῦ ᾿Οφέρ, υἱοῦ Γαλαάδ, υἱοῦ Μαχίρ, τοῦ δήμου Μανασσῆ, τῶν υἱῶν ᾿Ιωσήφ (καὶ ταῦτα τὰ ὀνόματα αὐτῶν· Μααλὰ καὶ Νουὰ καὶ ᾿Εγλὰ καὶ Μελχὰ καὶ Θερσά)

2 καὶ στᾶσαι ἔναντι Μωυσῆ καὶ ἔναντι ᾿Ελεάζαρ τοῦ ἱερέως καὶ ἔναντι τῶν ἀρχόντων καὶ ἔναντι πάσης συναγωγῆς ἐπὶ τῆς θύρας τῆς σκηνῆς τοῦ μαρτυρίου λέγουσιν·

3 ὁ πατὴρ ἡμῶν ἀπέθανεν ἐν τῇ ἐρήμῳ, καὶ αὐτὸς οὐκ ἦν ἐν μέσῳ τῆς συναγωγῆς τῆς ἐπισυστάσης ἔναντι Κυρίου ἐν τῇ συναγωγῇ Κορέ, ὅτι δι' ἁμαρτίαν αὐτοῦ ἀπέθανε, καὶ υἱοὶ οὐκ ἐγένοντο αὐτῷ· μὴ ἐξαλειφθήτω τὸ ὄνομα τοῦ πατρὸς ἡμῶν ἐκ μέσου τοῦ δήμου αὐτοῦ, ὅτι οὐκ ἔστιν αὐτῷ υἱός· δότε ἡμῖν κατάσχεσιν ἐν μέσῳ ἀδελφῶν πατρὸς ἡμῶν.

4 καὶ προσήγαγε Μωυσῆς τὴν κρίσιν αὐτῶν ἔναντι Κυρίου.

5 καὶ ἐλάλησε Κύριος πρὸς Μωυσῆν λέγων·

6 ὀρθῶς θυγατέρες Σαλπαὰδ λελαλήκασι· δόμα δώσεις αὐταῖς κατάσχεσιν κληρονομίας ἐν μέσῳ ἀδελφῶν πατρὸς αὐτῶν καὶ περιθήσεις τὸν κλῆρον τοῦ πατρὸς αὐτῶν αὐταῖς.

7 καὶ τοῖς υἱοῖς ᾿Ισραὴλ λαλήσεις λέγων·

8 ἄνθρωπος ἐὰν ἀποθάνῃ καὶ υἱὸς μὴ ᾖ αὐτῷ, περιθήσετε τὴν κληρονομίαν αὐτοῦ τῇ θυγατρὶ αὐτοῦ·

9 ἐὰν δὲ μὴ ᾖ θυγάτηρ αὐτῷ, δώσετε τὴν κληρονομίαν τῷ ἀδελφῷ τοῦ πατρὸς αὐτοῦ·

10 ἐὰν δὲ μὴ ὦσιν αὐτῷ ἀδελφοί, δώσετε τὴν κληρονομίαν τῷ ἀδελφῷ τοῦ πατρὸς αὐτοῦ·

11 ἐὰν δὲ μὴ ὦσιν ἀδελφοὶ τοῦ πατρὸς αὐτοῦ, δώσετε τὴν κληρονομίαν τῷ οἰκείῳ τῷ ἔγγιστα αὐτοῦ ἐκ τῆς φυλῆς αὐτοῦ κληρονομῆσαι τὰ αὐτοῦ. καὶ ἔσται τοῦτο τοῖς υἱοῖς ᾿Ισραὴλ δικαίωμα κρίσεως, καθὰ συνέταξε Κύριος τῷ Μωυσῇ.

12 Καὶ εἶπε Κύριος πρὸς Μωυσῆν· ἀνάβηθι εἰς τὸ ὄρος τὸ ἐν τῷ πέραν τοῦ ᾿Ιορδάνου (τοῦτο τὸ ὄρος Ναβαύ) καὶ ἰδὲ τὴν γῆν Χαναάν, ἣν ἐγὼ δίδωμι τοῖς υἱοῖς ᾿Ισραὴλ ἐν κατασχέσει·

13 καὶ ὄψῃ αὐτὴν καὶ προστεθήσῃ πρὸς τὸν λαόν σου καὶ σύ, καθὰ προσετέθη ᾿Ααρὼν ὁ ἀδελφός σου ἐν ῍Ωρ τῷ ὄρει,

14 διότι παρέβητε τὸ ρῆμά μου ἐν τῇ ἐρήμῳ Σὶν ἐν τῷ ἀντιπίπτειν τὴν συναγωγὴν ἁγιάσαι με· οὐχ ἡγιάσατέ με ἐπὶ τῷ ὕδατι ἔναντι αὐτῶν (τοῦτ' ἔστι τὸ ὕδωρ ἀντιλογίας ἐν Κάδης ἐν τῇ ἐρήμῳ Σίν).

15 καὶ εἶπε Μωυσῆς πρὸς Κύριον·

16 ἐπισκεψάσθω Κύριος ὁ Θεὸς τῶν πνευμάτων καὶ πάσης σαρκὸς ἄνθρωπον ἐπὶ τῆς συναγωγῆς ταύτης,

17 ὅστις ἐξελεύσεται πρὸ προσώπου αὐτῶν καὶ ὅστις εἰσελεύσεται πρὸ προσώπου αὐτῶν καὶ ὅστις ἐξάξει αὐτοὺς καὶ ὅστις εἰσάξει αὐτούς, καὶ οὐκ ἔσται ἡ συναγωγὴ Κυρίου ὡσεὶ πρόβατα οἷς οὐκ ἔστι ποιμήν.

18 καὶ ἐλάλησε Κύριος πρὸς Μωυσῆν λέγων· λάβε πρὸς σεαυτὸν ᾿Ιησοῦν υἱὸν Ναυή, ἄνθρωπον ὃς ἔχει πνεῦμα ἐν ἑαυτῷ, καὶ ἐπιθήσεις τὰς χεῖράς σου ἐπ' αὐτὸν

19 καὶ στήσεις αὐτὸν ἔναντι ᾿Ελεάζαρ τοῦ ἱερέως καὶ ἐντελῇ αὐτῷ ἔναντι πάσης συναγωγῆς καὶ ἐντελῇ περὶ αὐτοῦ ἐναντίον αὐτῶν

20 καὶ δώσεις τῆς δόξης σου ἐπ' αὐτόν, ὅπως ἂν εἰσακούσωσιν αὐτοῦ οἱ υἱοὶ ᾿Ισραήλ.

21 καὶ ἔναντι ᾿Ελεάζαρ τοῦ ἱερέως στήσεται, καὶ ἐπερωτήσουσιν αὐτὸν τὴν κρίσιν τῶν δήλων ἔναντι Κυρίου· ἐπὶ τῷ στόματι αὐτοῦ ἐξελεύσονται καὶ ἐπὶ τῷ στόματι αὐτοῦ εἰσελεύσονται αὐτὸς καὶ οἱ υἱοὶ ᾿Ισραὴλ ὁμοθυμαδὸν καὶ πᾶσα ἡ συναγωγή.

22 καὶ ἐποίησε Μωυσῆς, καθὰ ἐνετείλατο αὐτῷ Κύριος, καὶ λαβὼν τὸν ᾿Ιησοῦν ἔστησεν αὐτὸν ἐναντίον ᾿Ελεάζαρ τοῦ ἱερέως καὶ ἐναντίον πάσης συναγωγῆς

23 καὶ ἐπέθηκε τὰς χεῖρας αὐτοῦ ἐπ' αὐτόν, καὶ συνέστησεν αὐτὸν καθάπερ συνέταξε Κύριος τῷ Μωυσῇ.

ΚΑΙ ἐλάλησε Κύριος πρὸς Μωυσῆν λέγων·

2 ἔντειλαι τοῖς υἱοῖς ᾿Ισραὴλ καὶ ἐρεῖς πρὸς αὐτοὺς λέγων· τὰ δῶρά μου δόματά μου καρπώματά μου εἰς ὀσμὴν εὐωδίας διατηρήσετε προσφέρειν ἐμοὶ ἐν ταῖς ἑορταῖς μου.

3 καὶ ἐρεῖς πρὸς αὐτούς· ταῦτα τὰ καρπώματα ὅσα προσάξετε Κυρίῳ· ἀμνοὺς ἐνιαυσίους ἀμώμους δύο τὴν ἡμέραν εἰς ὁλοκαύτωσιν ἐνδελεχῶς,

4 τὸν ἀμνὸν τὸν ἕνα ποιήσεις τὸ πρωΐ καὶ τὸν ἀμνὸν τὸν δεύτερον ποιήσεις τὸ πρὸς ἑσπέραν·

5 καὶ ποιήσεις τὸ δέκατον τοῦ οἰφὶ σεμίδαλιν εἰς θυσίαν ἀναπεποιημένην ἐν ἐλαίῳ ἐν τετάρτῳ τοῦ ἴν.

6 ὁλοκαύτωμα ἐνδελεχισμοῦ, ἡ γενομένη ἐν τῷ ὄρει Σινὰ εἰς ὀσμὴν εὐωδίας Κυρίῳ·

7 καὶ σπονδὴν αὐτοῦ τὸ τέταρτον τοῦ ἲν τῷ ἀμνῷ τῷ ἑνί, ἐν τῷ ἁγίῳ σπείσεις σπονδὴν σίκερα Κυρίῳ.

8 καὶ τὸν ἀμνὸν τὸν δεύτερον ποιήσεις τὸ πρὸς ἑσπέραν· κατὰ τὴν θυσίαν αὐτοῦ καὶ κατὰ τὴν σπονδὴν αὐτοῦ ποιήσετε εἰς ὀσμὴν εὐωδίας Κυρίῳ.

9 Καὶ τῇ ἡμέρᾳ τῶν σαββάτων προσάξετε δύο ἀμνοὺς ἐνιαυσίους ἀμώμους καὶ δύο δέκατα σεμιδάλεως ἀναπεποιημένης ἐν ἐλαίῳ εἰς θυσίαν καὶ σπονδήν,

10 ὁλοκαύτωμα σαββάτων ἐν τοῖς σαββάτοις, ἐπὶ τῆς ὁλοκαυτώσεως τῆς διὰ παντὸς καὶ τὴν σπονδὴν αὐτοῦ.

11 Καὶ ἐν ταῖς νεομηνίαις προσάξετε ὁλοκαύτωμα τῷ Κυρίῳ μόσχους ἐκ βοῶν δύο καὶ κριὸν ἕνα, ἀμνοὺς ἐνιαυσίους ἑπτὰ ἀμώμους,

12 τρία δέκατα σεμιδάλεως ἀναπεποιημένης ἐν ἐλαίῳ τῷ μόσχῳ τῷ ἑνὶ καὶ δύο δέκατα σεμιδάλεως ἀναπεποιημένης ἐν ἐλαίῳ τῷ κριῷ τῷ ἑνί,

13 δέκατον δέκατον σεμιδάλεως ἀναπεποιημένης ἐν ἐλαίῳ τῷ ἀμνῷ τῷ ἑνί, θυσίαν ὀσμὴν εὐωδίας κάρπωμα Κυρίῳ.

14 ἡ σπονδὴ αὐτῶν τὸ ἥμισυ τοῦ ἲν ἔσται τῷ μόσχῳ τῷ ἑνί, καὶ τὸ τρίτον τοῦ ἲν ἔσται τῷ κριῷ τῷ ἑνί, καὶ τὸ τέταρτον τοῦ ἲν ἔσται τῷ ἀμνῷ τῷ ἑνὶ οἴνου. τοῦτο τὸ ὁλοκαύτωμα μῆνα ἐκ μηνὸς εἰς τοὺς μῆνας τοῦ ἐνιαυτοῦ.

15 καὶ χίμαρον ἐξ αἰγῶν ἕνα περὶ ἁμαρτίας Κυρίῳ· ἐπὶ τῆς ὁλοκαυτώσεως τῆς διὰ παντὸς ποιηθήσεται καὶ ἡ σπονδὴ αὐτοῦ.

16 Καὶ ἐν τῷ μηνὶ τῷ πρώτῳ τεσσαρεσκαιδεκάτῃ ἡμέρᾳ τοῦ μηνὸς πάσχα Κυρίῳ.

17 καὶ τῇ πεντεκαιδεκάτῃ ἡμέρᾳ τοῦ μηνὸς τούτου ἑορτή· ἑπτὰ ἡμέρας ἄζυμα ἔδεσθε.

18 καὶ ἡ ἡμέρα ἡ πρώτη ἐπίκλητος ἁγία ἔσται ὑμῖν, πᾶν ἔργον λατρευτὸν οὐ ποιήσετε.

19 καὶ προσάξετε ὁλοκαυτώματα κάρπωμα Κυρίῳ μόσχους ἐκ βοῶν δύο, κριὸν ἕνα, ἀμνοὺς ἐνιαυσίους ἑπτά, ἄμωμοι ἔσονται ὑμῖν·

20 καὶ ἡ θυσία αὐτῶν σεμίδαλις ἀναπεποιημένη ἐν ἐλαίῳ, τρία δέκατα τῷ μόσχῳ τῷ ἑνὶ καὶ δύο δέκατα τῷ κριῷ τῷ ἑνί,

21 δέκατον δέκατον ποιήσεις τῷ ἀμνῷ τῷ ἑνί, τοῖς ἑπτὰ ἀμνοῖς·

22 καὶ χίμαρον ἐξ αἰγῶν ἕνα περὶ ἁμαρτίας ἐξιλάσασθαι περὶ ὑμῶν·

23 πλὴν τῆς ὁλοκαυτώσεως τῆς διὰ παντὸς τῆς πρωϊνῆς, ὅ ἐστιν ὁλοκαύτωμα ἐνδελεχισμοῦ.

24 ταῦτα κατὰ ταῦτα ποιήσετε τὴν ἡμέραν εἰς τὰς ἑπτὰ ἡμέρας, δῶρον κάρπωμα εἰς ὀσμὴν εὐωδίας Κυρίῳ· ἐπὶ τοῦ ὁλοκαυτώματος τοῦ διὰ παντὸς ποιήσεις τὴν σπονδὴν αὐτοῦ.

25 καὶ ἡμέρα ἡ ἑβδόμη κλητὴ ἁγία ἔσται ὑμῖν, πᾶν ἔργον λατρευτὸν οὐ ποιήσετε ἐν αὐτῇ.

26 Καὶ τῇ ἡμέρᾳ τῶν νέων, ὅταν προσφέρητε θυσίαν νέαν Κυρίῳ τῶν ἑβδομάδων, ἐπίκλητος ἁγία ἔσται ὑμῖν, πᾶν ἔργον λατρευτὸν οὐ ποιήσετε.

27 καὶ προσάξετε ὁλοκαυτώματα εἰς ὀσμὴν εὐωδίας Κυρίῳ μόσχους ἐκ βοῶν δύο, κριὸν ἕνα, ἀμνοὺς ἐνιαυσίους ἑπτὰ ἀμώμους·

28 ἡ θυσία αὐτῶν σεμίδαλις ἀναπεποιημένη ἐν ἐλαίῳ, τρία δέκατα τῷ μόσχῳ τῷ ἑνὶ καὶ δύο δέκατα τῷ κριῷ τῷ ἑνί,

29 δέκατον δέκατον τῷ ἀμνῷ τῷ ἑνί, τοῖς ἑπτὰ ἀμνοῖς·

30 καὶ χίμαρον ἐξ αἰγῶν ἕνα περὶ ἁμαρτίας ἐξιλάσασθαι περὶ ὑμῶν·

31 πλὴν τοῦ ὁλοκαυτώματος τοῦ διὰ παντός· καὶ τὴν θυσίαν αὐτῶν ποιήσετέ μοι. ἄμωμοι ἔσονται ὑμῖν, καὶ τὰς σπονδὰς αὐτῶν.

ΚΑΙ τῷ μηνὶ τῷ ἑβδόμῳ, μιᾷ τοῦ μηνός, ἐπίκλητος ἁγία ἔσται ὑμῖν, πᾶν ἔργον λατρευτὸν οὐ ποιήσετε· ἡμέρα σημασίας ἔσται ὑμῖν.

2 καὶ ποιήσετε ὁλοκαυτώματα εἰς ὀσμὴν εὐωδίας Κυρίῳ, μόσχον ἕνα ἐκ βοῶν, κριὸν ἕνα, ἀμνοὺς ἐνιαυσίους ἑπτὰ ἀμώμους·

3 ἡ θυσία αὐτῶν σεμίδαλις ἀναπεποιημένη ἐν ἐλαίῳ, τρία δέκατα τῷ μόσχῳ τῷ ἑνί, καὶ δύο δέκατα τῷ κριῷ τῷ ἑνί,

4 δέκατον δέκατον τῷ ἀμνῷ τῷ ἑνί, τοῖς ἑπτὰ ἀμνοῖς·

5 καὶ χίμαρον ἐξ αἰγῶν ἕνα περὶ ἁμαρτίας ἐξιλάσασθαι περὶ ὑμῶν·

6 πλὴν τῶν ὁλοκαυτωμάτων τῆς νουμηνίας, καὶ αἱ θυσίαι αὐτῶν καὶ αἱ σπονδαὶ αὐτῶν καὶ τὸ ὁλοκαύτωμα τὸ διαπαντὸς καὶ αἱ θυσίαι αὐτῶν καὶ αἱ σπονδαὶ αὐτῶν κατὰ τὴν σύγκρισιν αὐτῶν εἰς ὀσμὴν εὐωδίας Κυρίῳ.

7 Καὶ τῇ δεκάτῃ τοῦ μηνὸς τούτου ἐπίκλητος ἁγία ἔσται ὑμῖν, καὶ κακώσετε τὰς ψυχὰς ὑμῶν καὶ πᾶν ἔργον οὐ ποιήσετε.

8 καὶ προσοίσετε ὁλοκαυτώματα εἰς ὀσμὴν εὐωδίας Κυρίῳ, καρπώματα Κυρίῳ, μόσχον ἐκ βοῶν ἕνα, κριὸν ἕνα, ἀμνοὺς ἐνιαυσίους ἑπτά, ἄμωμοι ἔσονται ὑμῖν·

9 ἡ θυσία αὐτῶν σεμίδαλις ἀναπεποιημένη ἐν ἐλαίῳ, τρία δέκατα τῷ μόσχω τῷ ἑνὶ καὶ δύο δέκατα τῷ κριῷ τῷ ἑνί,

10 δέκατον δέκατον τῷ ἁμνῷ τῷ ἑνὶ εἰς τοὺς ἑπτὰ ἀμνούς·

11 καὶ χίμαρον ἐξ αἰγῶν ἕνα περὶ ἁμαρτίας ἐξιλάσασθαι περὶ ὑμῶν· πλὴν τὸ περὶ τῆς ἁμαρτίας τῆς ἐξιλάσεως καὶ ἠ ὁλοκαύτωσις ἡ διὰ παντός, ἡ θυσία αὐτῆς καὶ ἡ σπονδὴ αὐτῆς κατὰ τὴν σύγκρισιν εἰς ὀσμὴν εὐωδίας κάρπωμα Κυρίῳ.

12 Καὶ τῇ πεντεκαιδεκάτῃ ἡμέρᾳ τοῦ μηνὸς τοῦ ἑβδόμου τούτου ἐπίκλητος ἁγία ἔσται ὑμῖν, πᾶν ἔργον λατρευτὸν οὐ ποιήσετε. καὶ ἑορτάσατε αὐτὴν ἑορτὴν Κυρίῳ ἑπτὰ ἡμέρας.

13 καὶ προσάξατε ὁλοκαυτώματα κάρπωμα εἰς ὀσμὴν εὐωδίας Κυρίῳ, τῇ ἡμέρᾳ τῇ πρώτῃ μόσχους ἐκ βοῶν τρεῖς καὶ δέκα, κριοὺς δύο, ἀμνοὺς ἐνιαυσίους δεκατέσσαρας, ἄμωμοι ἔσονται·

14 αἱ θυσίαι αὐτῶν σεμίδαλις ἀναπεποιημένη ἐν ἐλαίῳ, τρία δέκατα τῷ μόσχῳ τῷ ἑνί, τοῖς τρισκαίδεκα μόσχοις, καὶ δύο δέκατα τῷ κριῷ τῷ ἑνί, ἐπὶ τοὺς δύο κριούς,

15 δέκατον δέκατον τῷ ἀμνῷ τῷ ἑνί, ἐπὶ τοὺς τέσσαρας καὶ δέκα ἀμνούς·

16 καὶ χίμαρον ἐξ αἰγῶν ἕνα περὶ ἁμαρτίας, πλὴν τῆς ὁλοκαυτώσεως τῆς διαπαντός· αἱ θυσίαι αὐτῶν καὶ αἱ σπονδαὶ αὐτῶν.

17 καὶ τῇ ἡμέρᾳ τῇ δευτέρᾳ μόσχους δώδεκα, κριοὺς δύο, ἀμνοὺς ἐνιαυσίους τέσσαρας καὶ δέκα ἀμώμους·

18 ἡ θυσία αὐτῶν καὶ ἡ σπονδὴ αὐτῶν τοῖς μόσχοις καὶ τοῖς κριοῖς καὶ τοῖς ἀμνοῖς κατὰ ἀριθμὸν αὐτῶν, κατὰ τὴν σύγκρισιν αὐτῶν·

19 καὶ χίμαρον ἐξ αἰγῶν ἕνα περὶ ἁμαρτίας, πλὴν τῆς ὁλοκαυτώσεως τῆς διαπαντός· αἱ θυσίαι αὐτῶν καὶ αἱ σπονδαὶ αὐτῶν.

20 τῇ ἡμέρᾳ τῇ τρίτῃ μόσχους ἕνδεκα, κριοὺς δύο, ἀμνοὺς ἐνιαυσίους τέσσαρας καὶ δέκα ἀμώμους·

21 ἡ θυσία αὐτῶν καὶ ἡ σπονδὴ αὐτῶν τοῖς μόσχοις καὶ τοῖς κριοῖς καὶ τοῖς ἀμνοῖς κατὰ ἀριθμὸν αὐτῶν, κατὰ τὴν σύγκρισιν αὐτῶν·

22 καὶ χίμαρον ἐξ αἰγῶν ἕνα περὶ ἁμαρτίας, πλὴν τῆς ὁλοκαυτώσεως τῆς διαπαντός· αἱ θυσίαι αὐτῶν καὶ αἱ σπονδαὶ αὐτῶν.

23 τῇ ἡμέρᾳ τῇ τετάρτῃ μόσχους δέκα, κριοὺς δύο, ἀμνοὺς ἐνιαυσίους τέσσαρας καὶ δέκα ἀμώμους·

24 αἱ θυσίαι αὐτῶν καὶ αἱ σπονδαὶ αὐτῶν τοῖς μόσχοις καὶ τοῖς κριοῖς καὶ τοῖς ἀμνοῖς κατὰ ἀριθμὸν αὐτῶν κατὰ τὴν σύγκρισιν αὐτῶν·

25 καὶ χίμαρον ἐξ αἰγῶν ἕνα περὶ ἁμαρτίας, πλὴν τῆς ὁλοκαυτώσεως τῆς διαπαντός· αἱ θυσίαι αὐτῶν καὶ αἱ σπονδαὶ αὐτῶν.

26 τῇ ἡμέρᾳ τῇ πέμπτῃ μόσχους ἐννέα, κριοὺς δύο, ἀμνοὺς ἐνιαυσίους τέσσαρας καὶ δέκα ἀμώμους·

27 αἱ θυσίαι αὐτῶν καὶ αἱ σπονδαὶ αὐτῶν τοῖς μόσχοις καὶ τοῖς κριοῖς καὶ τοῖς ἀμνοῖς κατὰ ἀριθμὸν αὐτῶν, κατὰ τὴν σύγκρισιν αὐτῶν·

28 καὶ χίμαρον ἐξ αἰγῶν ἕνα περὶ ἁμαρτίας, πλὴν τῆς ὁλοκαυτώσεως τῆς διὰ παντός· αἱ θυσίαι αὐτῶν καὶ αἱ σπονδαὶ αὐτῶν.

29 τῇ ἡμέρᾳ τῇ ἕκτῃ μόσχους ὀκτώ, κριοὺς δύο, ἀμνοὺς ἐνιαυσίους δεκατέσσαρας ἀμώμους·

30 αἱ θυσίαι αὐτῶν καὶ αἱ σπονδαὶ αὐτῶν τοῖς μόσχοις καὶ τοῖς κριοῖς καὶ τοῖς ἀμνοῖς κατὰ ἀριθμὸν αὐτῶν, κατὰ τὴν σύγκρισιν αὐτῶν·

31 καὶ χίμαρον ἐξ αἰγῶν ἕνα περὶ ἁμαρτίας, πλὴν τῆς ὁλοκαυτώσεως τῆς διαπαντός· αἱ θυσίαι αὐτῶν καὶ αἱ σπονδαὶ αὐτῶν.

32 τῇ ἡμέρᾳ τῇ ἑβδόμῃ μόσχους ἑπτά, κριοὺς δύο, ἀμνοὺς ἐνιαυσίους δεκατέσσαρας ἀμώμους·

33 αἱ θυσίαι αὐτῶν καὶ αἱ σπονδαὶ αὐτῶν τοῖς μόσχοις καὶ τοῖς κριοῖς καὶ τοῖς ἀμνοῖς κατὰ ἀριθμὸν αὐτῶν, κατὰ τὴν σύγκρισιν αὐτῶν·

34 καὶ χίμαρον ἐξ αἰγῶν ἕνα περὶ ἁμαρτίας, πλὴν τῆς ὁλοκαυτώσεως τῆς διαπαντός· αἱ θυσίαι αὐτῶν καὶ αἱ σπονδαὶ αὐτῶν.

35 καὶ τῇ ἡμέρᾳ τῇ ὀγδόῃ ἐξόδιον ἔσται ὑμῖν. πᾶν ἔργον λατρευτὸν οὐ ποιήσετε ἐν αὐτῇ.

36 καὶ προσάξετε ὁλοκαυτώματα εἰς ὀσμὴν εὐωδίας καρπώματα τῷ Κυρίῳ, μόσχον ἕνα, κριὸν ἕνα, ἀμνοὺς ἐνιαυσίους ἑπτὰ ἀμώμους.

37 αἱ θυσίαι αὐτῶν καὶ αἱ σπονδαὶ αὐτῶν τῷ μόσχῳ καὶ τῷ κριῷ καὶ τοῖς ἀμνοῖς κατὰ ἀριθμὸν αὐτῶν, κατὰ τὴν σύγκρισιν αὐτῶν.

38 καὶ χίμαρον ἐξ αἰγῶν ἕνα περὶ ἁμαρτίας, πλὴν τῆς ὁλοκαυτώσεως τῆς διαπαντός· αἱ θυσίαι αὐτῶν καὶ αἱ σπονδαὶ αὐτῶν.

39 Ταῦτα ποιήσετε Κυρίῳ ἐν ταῖς ἑορταῖς ὑμῶν, πλὴν τῶν εὐχῶν ὑμῶν, καὶ τὰ ἑκούσια ὑμῶν καὶ τὰ ὁλοκαυτώματα ὑμῶν καὶ τὰς θυσίας ὑμῶν καὶ τὰς σπονδὰς ὑμῶν καὶ τὰ σωτήρια ὑμῶν.

ΚΑΙ ἐλάλησε Μωυσῆς τοῖς υἱοῖς ᾿Ισραὴλ κατὰ πάντα, ὅσα ἐνετείλατο Κύριος τῷ Μωυσῇ.

2 καὶ ἐλάλησε Μωυσῆς πρὸς τοὺς ἄρχοντας τῶν φυλῶν υἱῶν ᾿Ισραὴλ λέγων· τοῦτο τὸ ρῆμα, ὃ συνέταξε Κύριος·

3 ἄνθρωπος ἄνθρωπος, ὃς ἂν εὔξηται εὐχὴν Κυρίῳ ἢ ὀμόσῃ ὅρκον ἢ ὁρίσηται ὁρισμῷ περὶ τῆς ψυχῆς αὐτοῦ, οὐ βεβηλώσει τὸ ρῆμα αὐτοῦ· πάντα ὅσα ἂν ἐξέλθῃ ἐκ τοῦ στόματος αὐτοῦ, ποιήσει·

4 ἐὰν δὲ εὔξηται γυνὴ εὐχὴν Κυρίῳ ἢ ὁρίσηται ὁρισμὸν ἐν τῷ οἴκῳ τοῦ πατρὸς αὐτῆς ἐν τῇ νεότητι αὐτῆς καὶ ἀκούσῃ ὁ πατὴρ αὐτῆς τὰς εὐχὰς αὐτῆς καὶ τοὺς ὁρισμοὺς αὐτῆς, οὓς ὡρίσατο κατὰ τῆς ψυχῆς αὐτῆς, καὶ παρασιωπήσῃ αὐτῆς ὁ πατήρ, καὶ στήσονται πᾶσαι αἱ εὐχαὶ αὐτῆς,

5 καὶ πάντες οἱ ὁρισμοί, οὓς ὡρίσατο κατὰ τῆς ψυχῆς αὐτῆς, μενοῦσιν αὐτῇ.

6 ἐὰν δὲ ἀνανεύων ἀνανεύσῃ ὁ πατὴρ αὐτῆς, ᾗ ἂν ἡμέρᾳ ἀκούσῃ πάσας τὰς εὐχὰς αὐτῆς καὶ τοὺς ὁρισμούς, οὓς ὡρίσατο κατὰ τῆς ψυχῆς αὐτῆς, οὐ στήσονται· καὶ Κύριος καθαριεῖ αὐτήν, ὅτι ἀνένευσεν ὁ πατὴρ αὐτῆς.

7 ἐὰν δὲ γενομένη γένηται ἀνδρὶ καὶ αἱ εὐχαὶ αὐτῆς ἐπ' αὐτῇ κατὰ τὴν διαστολὴν τῶν χειλέων αὐτῆς, οὓς ὡρίσατο κατὰ τῆς ψυχῆς αὐτῆς,

8 καὶ ἀκούσῃ ὁ ἀνὴρ αὐτῆς καὶ παρασιωπήσῃ αὐτῇ, ᾗ ἂν ἡμέρᾳ ἀκούσῃ, καὶ οὕτω στήσονται πᾶσαι αἱ εὐχαὶ αὐτῆς καὶ οἱ ὁρισμοὶ αὐτῆς, οὓς ὡρίσατο κατὰ τῆς ψυχῆς αὐτῆς, στήσονται.

9 ἐὰν δὲ ἀνανεύων ἀνανεύσῃ ὁ ἀνὴρ αὐτῆς, ᾗ ἐὰν ἡμέρᾳ ἀκούσῃ, πᾶσαι αἱ εὐχαὶ αὐτῆς καὶ οἱ ὁρισμοὶ αὐτῆς, οὓς ὡρίσατο κατὰ τῆς ψυχῆς αὐτῆς, οὐ μενοῦσιν, ὅτι ὁ ἀνὴρ ἀνένευσεν ἀπ' αὐτῆς, καὶ Κύριος καθαριεῖ αὐτήν.

10 καὶ εὐχὴ χήρας καὶ ἐκβεβλημένης ὅσα ἐὰν εὔξηται κατὰ τῆς ψυχῆς αὐτῆς, μενοῦσιν αὐτῇ.

11 ἐὰν δὲ ἐν τῷ οἴκῳ τοῦ ἀνδρὸς αὐτῆς ἡ εὐχὴ αὐτῆς ἢ ὁ ὁρισμὸς κατὰ τῆς ψυχῆς αὐτῆς μεθ' ὅρκου

12 καὶ ἀκούσῃ ὁ ἀνὴρ αὐτῆς καὶ παρασιωπήσῃ αὐτῇ καὶ μὴ ἀνανεύσῃ αὐτῇ, καὶ στήσονται πᾶσαι αἱ εὐχαὶ αὐτῆς, καὶ πάντες οἱ ὁρισμοὶ αὐτῆς, οὓς ὡρίσατο κατὰ τῆς ψυχῆς αὐτῆς, στήσονται κατ' αὐτῆς.

13 ἐὰν δὲ περιελὼν περιέλῃ ὁ ἀνὴρ αὐτῆς, ᾗ ἂν ἡμέρᾳ ἀκούσῃ, πάντα ὅσα ἐὰν ἐξέλθῃ ἐκ τῶν χειλέων αὐτῆς κατὰ τὰς εὐχὰς αὐτῆς καὶ κατὰ τοὺς ὁρισμοὺς τοὺς κατὰ τῆς ψυχῆς αὐτῆς, οὐ μενεῖ αὐτῇ· ὁ ἀνὴρ αὐτῆς περιεῖλε, καὶ Κύριος καθαριεῖ αὐτήν.

14 πᾶσα εὐχὴ καὶ πᾶς ὅρκος δεσμοῦ κακῶσαι ψυχήν, ὁ ἀνὴρ αὐτῆς στήσει αὐτῇ καὶ ὁ ἀνὴρ αὐτῆς περιελεῖ.

15 ἐὰν δὲ σιωπῶν παρασιωπήσῃ αὐτῇ ἡμέραν ἐξ ἡμέρας, καὶ στήσει αὐτῇ πάσας τὰς εὐχὰς αὐτῆς, καὶ τοὺς ὁρισμοὺς τοὺς ἐπ' αὐτῆς στήσει αὐτῇ, ὅτι ἐσιώπησεν αὐτῇ τῇ ἡμέρᾳ, ᾗ ἤκουσεν.

16 ἐὰν δὲ περιελὼν περιέλῃ ὁ ἀνὴρ αὐτῆς μετὰ τὴν ἡμέραν, ἣν ἤκουσε, καὶ λήψεται τὴν ἁμαρτίαν αὐτοῦ.

17 ταῦτα τὰ δικαιώματα, ὅσα ἐνετείλατο Κύριος τῷ Μωυσῇ, ἀνὰ μέσον ἀνδρὸς καὶ γυναικὸς αὐτοῦ καὶ ἀναμέσον πατρὸς καὶ θυγατρὸς ἐν νεότητι ἐν οἴκῳ πατρός.

NUMBERS

And Arad the Chananitish king who dwelt by the wilderness, heard that Israel came by the way of Atharin; and he made war on Israel, and carried off some of them captives.

2 And Israel vowed a vow to the Lord, and said, If thou wilt deliver this people into my power, I will devote it and its cities to thee.

3 And the Lord hearkened to the voice of Israel, and delivered the Chananite into his power; and Israel devoted him and his cities, and they called the name of that place Anathema.

4 And having departed from mount Or by the way leading to the Red Sea, they compassed the land of Edom, and the people lost courage by the way.

5 And the people spoke against God and against Moses, saying, Why is this? Hast thou brought us ought of Egypt to slay us in the wilderness? for there is not bread nor water; and our soul loathes this light bread.

6 And the Lord sent among the people deadly serpents, and they bit the people, and much people of the children of Israel died.

7 And the people came to Moses and said, We have sinned, for we have spoken against the Lord, and against thee: pray therefore to the Lord, and let him take away the serpent from us. And Moses prayed to the Lord for the people;

8 and the Lord said to Moses, Make thee a serpent, and put it on a signal-staff; and it shall come to pass that whenever a serpent shall bite a man, every one so bitten that looks upon it shall live.

9 And Moses made a serpent of brass, and put it upon a signal-staff: and it came to pass that whenever a serpent bit a man, and he looked on the brazen serpent, he lived.

10 And the children of Israel departed, and encamped in Oboth.

11 And having departed from Oboth, they encamped in Achalgai, on the farther side in the wilderness, which is opposite Moab, toward the east.

12 And thence they departed, and encamped in the valley of Zared.

13 And they departed thence and encamped on the other side of Arnon in the wilderness, the country which extends from the coasts of the Amorites; for Arnon is the borders of Moab, between Moab and the Amorites.

14 Therefore it is said in a book, A war of the Lord has set on fire Zoob, and the brooks of Arnon.

15 And he has appointed brooks to cause Er to dwell there; and it lies near to the coasts of Moab.

16 And thence they came to the well; this is the well of which the Lord said to Moses, Gather the people, and I will give them water to drink.

17 Then Israel sang this song at the well, Begin to sing of the well;

18 the princes digged it, the kings of the nations in their kingdom, in their lordship sank it in the rock: and they went from the well to Manthanain,

19 and from Manthanain to Naaliel, and from Naaliel to Bamoth, and from Bamoth to Janen, which is in the plain of Moab as seen from the top of the quarried rock that looks toward the wilderness.

20 And Moses sent ambassadors to Seon king of the Amorites, with peaceable words, saying,

21 We will pass through thy land, we will go by the road; we will not turn aside to the field or to the vineyard.

22 We will not drink water out of thy well; we will go by the king’s highway, until we have past thy boundaries.

23 And Seon did not allow Israel to pass through his borders, and Seon gathered all his people, and went out to set the battle in array against Israel into the wilderness; and he came to Jassa, and set the battle in array against Israel.

24 And Israel smote him with the slaughter of the sword, and they became possessors of his land, from Arnon to Jaboc, as far as the children of Amman, for Jazer is the borders of the children of Amman.

25 And Israel took all their cities, and Israel dwelt in all the cities of the Amorites, in Esebon, and in all cities belonging to it.

26 For Esebon is the city of Seon king of the Amorites; and he before fought against the king of Moab, and they took all his land, from Aroer to Arnon.

27 Therefore say they who deal in dark speeches, Come to Esebon, that the city of Seon may be built and prepared.

28 For a fire has gone forth from Esebon, a flame from the city of Seon, and has consumed as far as Moab, and devoured the pillars of Arnon.

29 Woe to thee, Moab; thou art lost, thou people of Chamos: their sons are sold for preservation, and their daughters are captives to Seon king of the Amorites.

30 And their seed shall perish from Esebon to Daebon; and their women have yet farther kindled a fire against Moab.

31 And Israel dwelt in all the cities of the Amorites.

32 And Moses sent to spy out Jazer; and they took it, and its villages, and cast out the Amorite that dwelt there.

33 And having returned, they went up the road that leads to Basan; and Og the king of Basan went forth to meet them, and all his people to war to Edrain.

34 And the Lord said to Moses, Fear him not; for I have delivered him and all his people, and all his land, into thy hands; and thou shalt do to him as thou didst to Seon king of the Amorites, who dwelt in Esebon.

35 And he smote him and his sons, and all his people, until he left none of his to be taken alive; and they inherited his land.

And the children of Israel departed, and encamped on the west of Moab by Jordan toward Jericho.

2 And when Balac son of Sepphor saw all that Israel did to the Amorite,

3 then Moab feared the people exceedingly because they were many; and Moab was grieved before the face of the children of Israel.

4 And Moab said to the elders of Madiam, Now shall this assembly lick up all that are round about us, as a calf would lick up the green herbs of the field:—and Balac son of Sepphor was king of Moab at that time.

5 And he sent ambassadors to Balaam the son of Beor, to Phathura, which is on a river of the land of the sons of his people, to call him, saying, Behold, a people is come out of Egypt, and behold it has covered the face of the earth, and it has encamped close to me.

6 And now come, curse me this people, for it is stronger than we; if we may be able to smite some of them, and I will cast them out of the land: for I know that whomsoever thou dost bless, they are blessed, and whomsoever thou dost curse, they are cursed.

7 And the elders of Moab went, and the elders of Madiam, and their divining instruments were in their hands; and they came to Balaam, and spoke to him the words of Balac.

8 And he said to them, Tarry here the night, and I will answer you the things which the Lord shall say to me; and the princes of Moab stayed with Balaam.

9 And God came to Balaam, and said to him, Who are these men with thee?

10 And Balaam said to God, Balac son of Sepphor, king of Moab, sent them to me, saying,

11 Behold, a people has come forth out of Egypt, and has covered the face of the land, and it has encamped near to me; and now come, curse it for me, if indeed I shall be able to smite it, and cast it out of the land.

12 And God said to Balaam, Thou shalt not go with them, neither shalt thou curse the people; for they are blessed.

13 And Balaam rose up in the morning, and said to the princes of Balac, Depart quickly to your lord; God does not permit me to go with you.

14 And the princes of Moab rose, and came to Balac, and said, Balaam will not come with us.

15 And Balac yet again sent more princes and more honourable than they.

16 And they came to Balaam, and they say to him, Thus says Balac the son of Sepphor: I beseech thee, delay not to come to me.

17 For I will greatly honour thee, and will do for thee whatsoever thou shalt say; come then, curse me this people.

18 And Balaam answered and said to the princes of Balac, If Balac would give me his house full of silver and gold, I shall not be able to go beyond the word of the Lord God, to make it little or great in my mind.

19 And now do ye also tarry here this night, and I shall know what the Lord will yet say to me.

20 And God came to Balaam by night, and said to him, If these men are come to call thee, rise and follow them; nevertheless the word which I shall speak to thee, it shalt thou do.

21 And Balaam rose up in the morning, and saddled his ass, and went with the princes of Moab.

22 And God was very angry because he went; and the angel of the Lord rose up to withstand him. Now he had mounted his ass, and his two servants were with him.

23 And when the ass saw the angel of God standing opposite in the way, and his sword drawn in his hand, then the ass turned aside out of the way, and went into the field; and Balaam smote the ass with his staff to direct her in the way.

24 And the angel of the Lord stood in the avenues of the vines, a fence being on this side and a fence on that.

25 And when the ass saw the angel of God, she thrust herself against the wall, and crushed Balaam’s foot against the wall, and he smote her again.

26 And the angel of the Lord went farther, and came and stood in a narrow place where it was impossible to turn to the right or the left.

27 And when the ass saw the angel of God, she lay down under Balaam; and Balaam was angry, and struck the ass with his staff.

28 And God opened the mouth of the ass, and she says to Balaam, What have I done to thee, that thou hast smitten me this third time?

29 And Balaam said to the ass, Because thou hast mocked me; and if I had had a sword in my hand, I would now have killed thee.

30 And the ass says to Balaam, Am not I thine ass on which thou hast ridden since thy youth till this day? did I ever do thus to thee, utterly disregarding thee? and he said, No.

31 And God opened the eyes of Balaam, and he sees the angel of the Lord withstanding him in the way, and his sword drawn in his hand, and he stooped down and worshipped on his face.

32 And the angel of God said to him, Why hast thou smitten thine ass this third time? and, behold, I came out to withstand thee, for thy way was not seemly before me;

33 and when the ass saw me, she turned away from me this third time. And if she had not turned out of the way, surely now, I should have slain thee, and should have saved her alive.

34 And Balaam said to the angel of the Lord, I have sinned, for I did not know that thou wert standing opposite in the way to meet me; and now if it shall not be pleasing to thee for me to go on, I will return.

35 And the angel of the Lord said to Balaam, Go with the men: nevertheless the word which I shall speak to thee, that thou shalt take heed to speak. And Balaam went with the princes of Balac.

36 And when Balac heard that Balaam was come, he went out to meet him, to a city of Moab, which is on the borders of Arnon, which is on the extreme part of the borders.

37 And Balac said to Balaam, Did I not send to thee to call thee? why hast thou not come to me? shall I not indeed be able to honour thee?

38 And Balaam said to Balac, Behold, I am now come to thee: shall I be able to say anything? the word which God shall put into my mouth, that I shall speak.

39 And Balaam went with Balac, and they came to the cities of streets.

40 And Balac offered sheep and calves, and sent to Balaam and to his princes who were with him.

41 And it was morning; and Balac took Balaam, and brought him up to the pillar of Baal, and shewed him thence a part of the people.

And Balaam said to Balac, Build me here seven altars, and prepare me here seven calves, and seven rams.

2 And Balac did as Balaam told him; and he offered up a calf and a ram on every altar.

3 And Balaam said to Balac, Stand by thy sacrifice, and I will go and see if God will appear to me and meet me, and the word which he shall shew me, I will report to thee. And Balac stood by his sacrifice. And Balaam went to enquire of God; and he went straight forward,

4 and God appeared to Balaam; and Balaam said to him, I have prepared the seven altars, and have offered a calf and a ram on every altar.

5 And God put a word into the mouth of Balaam, and said, thou shalt return to Balac, and thus shalt thou speak.

6 And he returned to him, and moreover he stood over his whole-burnt-offerings, and all the princes of Moab with him; and the Spirit of God came upon him.

7 And he took up his parable, and said, Balac king of Moab sent for me out of Mesopotamia, out of the mountains of the east, saying, Come, curse me Jacob, and Come, call for a curse for me upon Israel.

8 How can I curse whom the Lord curses not? or how can I devote whom God devotes not?

9 For from the top of the mountains I shall see him, and from the hills I shall observe him: behold, the people shall dwell alone, and shall not be reckoned among the nations.

10 Who has exactly calculated the seed of Jacob, and who shall number the families of Israel? let my soul die with the souls of the righteous, and let my seed be as their seed.

11 And Balac said to Balaam, What hast thou done to me? I called thee to curse my enemies, and behold thou hast greatly blessed them.

12 And Balaam said to Balac, Whatsoever the Lord shall put into my mouth, shall I not take heed to speak this?

13 And Balac said to him, Come yet with me to another place where thou shalt not see the people, but only thou shalt see a part of them, and shalt not see them all; and curse me them from thence.

14 And he took him to a high place of the field to the top of the quarried rock, and he built there seven altars, and offered a calf and a ram on every altar.

15 And Balaam said to Balac, Stand by thy sacrifice, and I will go to enquire of God.

16 And God met Balaam, and put a word into his mouth, and said, return to Balac, and thus shalt thou speak.

17 And he returned to him: and he also was standing by his whole-burnt-sacrifice, and all the princes of Moab with him; and Balac said to him, What has the Lord spoken?

18 And he took up his parable, and said, rise up, Balac, and hear; hearken as a witness, thou son of Sepphor.

19 God is not as man to waver, nor as the son of man to be threatened; shall he say and not perform? shall he speak and not keep to his word?

20 Behold, I have received commandment to bless: I will bless, and not turn back.

21 There shall not be trouble in Jacob, neither shall sorrow be seen in Israel: the Lord his God is with him, the glories of rulers are in him.

22 It was God who brought him out of Egypt; he has as it were the glory of a unicorn.

23 For there is no divination in Jacob, nor enchantment in Israel; in season it shall be told to Jacob and Israel what God shall perform.

24 Behold, the people shall rise up as a lion’s whelp, and shall exalt himself as a lion; he shall not lie down till he have eaten the prey, and he shall drink the blood of the slain.

25 And Balac said to Balaam, Neither curse the people at all for me, nor bless them at all.

26 And Balaam answered and said to Balac, Spoke I not to thee, saying, Whatsoever thing God shall speak to me, that will I do?

27 And Balac said to Balaam, Come and I will remove thee to another place, if it shall please God, and curse me them from thence.

28 And Balac took Balaam to the top of Phogor, which extends to the wilderness.

29 And Balaam said to Balac, build me here seven altars, and prepare me here seven calves, and seven rams.

30 And Balac did as Balaam told him, and offered a calf and a ram on every altar.

And when Balaam saw that it pleased God to bless Israel, he did not go according to his custom to meet the omens, but turned his face toward the wilderness.

2 And Balaam lifted up his eyes, and sees Israel encamped by their tribes; and the Spirit of God came upon him.

3 And he took up his parable and said, Balaam son of Beor says, the man who sees truly says,

4 he says who hears the oracle of the Mighty One, who saw a vision of God in sleep; his eyes were opened:

5 How goodly are thy habitations, Jacob, and thy tents, Israel!

6 as shady groves, and as gardens by a river, and as tents which God pitched, and as cedars by the waters.

7 There shall come a man out of his seed, and he shall rule over many nations; and the kingdom of Gog shall be exalted, and his kingdom shall be increased.

8 God led him out of Egypt; he has as it were the glory of a unicorn: he shall consume the nations of his enemies, and he shall drain their marrow, and with his darts he shall shoot through the enemy.

9 He lay down, he rested as a lion, and as a young lion; who shall stir him up? they that bless thee are blessed, and they that curse thee are cursed.

10 And Balac was angry with Balaam, and clapped his hands together; and Balac said to Balaam, I called thee to curse my enemy, and behold thou hast decidedly blessed him this third time.

11 Now therefore flee to thy place: I said, I will honour thee, but now the Lord has deprived thee of glory.

12 And Balaam said to Balac, Did I not speak to thy messengers also whom thou sentest to me, saying,

13 If Balac should give me his house full of silver and gold, I shall not be able to transgress the word of the Lord to make it good or bad by myself; whatsoever things God shall say, them will I speak.

14 And now, behold, I return to my place; come, I will advise thee of what this people shall do to thy people in the last days.

15 And he took up his parable and said, Balaam the son of Beor says, the man who sees truly says,

16 hearing the oracles of God, receiving knowledge from the Most High, and having seen a vision of God in sleep; his eyes were opened.

17 I will point to him, but not now; I bless him, but he draws not near: a star shall rise out of Jacob, a man shall spring out of Israel; and shall crush the princes of Moab, and shall spoil all the sons of Seth.

18 And Edom shall be an inheritance, and Esau his enemy shall be an inheritance of Israel, and Israel wrought valiantly.

19 And one shall arise out of Jacob, and destroy out of the city him that escapes.

20 And having seen Amalec, he took up his parable and said, Amalec is the first of the nations; yet his seed shall perish.

21 And having seen the Kenite, he took up his parable and said, thy dwelling-place is strong; yet though thou shouldest put thy nest in a rock,

22 and though Beor should have a skillfully contrived hiding-place, the Assyrians shall carry thee away captive.

23 And he looked upon Og, and took up his parable and said, Oh, oh, who shall live, when God shall do these things?

24 And one shall come forth from the hands of the Citians, and shall afflict Assur, and shall afflict the Hebrews, and they shall perish together.

25 And Balaam rose up and departed and returned to his place, and Balac went to his own home.

And Israel sojourned in Sattin, and the people profaned itself by going a-whoring after the daughters of Moab.

2 And they called them to the sacrifices of their idols; and the people ate of their sacrifices, and worshipped their idols.

3 And Israel consecrated themselves to Beel-phegor; and the Lord was very angry with Israel.

4 And the Lord said to Moses, Take all the princes of the people, and make them examples of judgment for the Lord in the face of the sun, and the anger of the Lord shall be turned away from Israel.

5 And Moses said to the tribes of Israel, Slay ye every one his friend that is consecrated to Beel-phegor.

6 And, behold, a man of the children of Israel came and brought his brother to a Madianitish woman before Moses, and before all the congregation of the children of Israel; and they were weeping at the door of the tabernacle of witness.

7 And Phinees the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, saw it, and rose out of the midst of the congregation, and took a javelin in his hand,

8 and went in after the Israelitish man into the chamber, and pierced them both through, both the Israelitish man, and the woman through her womb; and the plague was stayed from the children of Israel.

9 And those that died in the plague were four and twenty thousand.

10 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying,

11 Phinees the son of Eleazar the son of Aaron the priest has caused my wrath to cease from the children of Israel, when I was exceedingly jealous among them, and I did not consume the children of Israel in my jealousy.

12 Thus do thou say to him, Behold, I give him a covenant of peace:

13 and he and his seed after him shall have a perpetual covenant of priesthood, because he was zealous for his God, and made atonement for the children of Israel.

14 Now the name of the smitten Israelitish man, who was smitten with the Madianitish woman, was Zambri son of Salmon, prince of a house of the tribe of Symeon.

15 And the name of the Madianitish woman who was smitten, was Chasbi, daughter of Sur, a prince of the nation of Ommoth: it is a chief house among the people of Madiam.

16 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, Speak to the children of Israel, saying,

17 Plague the Madianites as enemies, and smite them,

18 for they are enemies to you by the treachery wherein they ensnare you through Phogor, and through Chasbi their sister, daughter of a prince of Madiam, who was smitten in the day of the plague because of Phogor.

And it came to pass after the plague, that the Lord spoke to Moses and Eleazar the priest, saying,

2 Take the sum of all the congregation of the children of Israel, from twenty years old and upward, according to the houses of their lineage, every one that goes forth to battle in Israel.

3 And Moses and Eleazar the priest spoke in Araboth of Moab at the Jordan by Jericho, saying,

4 This is the numbering from twenty years old and upward as the Lord commanded Moses. And the sons of Israel that came out of Egypt are as follows:

5 Ruben was the first-born of Israel: and the sons of Ruben, Enoch, and the family of Enoch; to Phallu belongs the family of the Phalluites.

6 To Asron, the family of Asroni: to Charmi, the family of Charmi.

7 These are the families of Ruben; and their numbering was forty-three thousand and seven hundred and thirty.

8 And the sons of Phallu were Eliab,

9 and the sons of Eliab, Namuel, and Dathan, and Abiron: these are renowned men of the congregation; these are they that rose up against Moses and Aaron in the gathering of Core, in the rebellion against the Lord.

10 And the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed up them and Core, when their assembly perished, when the fire devoured the two hundred and fifty, and they were made a sign.

11 But the sons of Core died not.

12 And the sons of Symeon:—the family of the sons of Symeon: to Namuel, belonged the family of the Namuelites; to Jamin the family of the Jaminites; to Jachin the family of the Jachinites.

13 To Zara the family of the Zaraites; to Saul the family of the Saulites.

14 These are the families of Symeon according to their numbering, two and twenty thousand and two hundred.

15 And the sons of Juda, Er and Aunan; and Er and Aunan died in the land of Chanaan.

16 And these were the sons of Juda, according to their families: to Selom belonged the family of the Selonites; to Phares, the family of the Pharesites; to Zara, the family of the Zaraites.

17 And the sons of Phares were, to Asron, the family of the Asronites; to Jamun, the family of the Jamunites.

18 These are the families of Juda according to their numbering, seventy-six thousand and five hundred.

19 And the sons of Issachar according to their families: to Thola, the family of the Tholaites; to Phua, the family of the Phuaites.

20 To Jasub, the family of the Jasubites; to Samram, the family of the Samramites.

21 These are the families of Issachar according to their numbering, sixty-four thousand and four hundred.

22 The sons of Zabulon according to their families: to Sared, the family of the Saredites; to Allon, the family of the Allonites; to Allel, the family of the Allelites.

23 These are the families of Zabulon according to their numbering, sixty thousand and five hundred.

24 The sons of Gad according to their families: to Saphon, the family of the Saphonites; to Angi, the family of the Angites; to Suni, the family of the Sunites;

25 to Azeni, the family of the Azenites; to Addi, the family of the Addites:

26 to Aroadi, the family of the Aroadites; to Ariel, the family of the Arielites.

27 These are the families of the children of Gad according to their numbering, forty-four thousand and five hundred.

28 The sons of Aser according to their families; to Jamin, the family of the Jaminites; to Jesu, the family of the Jesusites; to Baria, the family of the Bariaites.

29 To Chober, the family of the Choberites; to Melchiel, the family of the Melchielites.

30 And the name of the daughter of Aser, Sara.

31 These are the families of Aser according to their numbering, forty-three thousand and four hundred.

32 The sons of Joseph according to their families, Manasse and Ephraim.

33 The sons of Manasse. To Machir the family of the Machirites; and Machir begot Galaad: to Galaad, the family of the Galaadites.

34 And these are the sons of Galaad; to Achiezer, the family of the Achiezerites; to Cheleg, the family of the Chelegites.

35 To Esriel, the family of the Esrielites; to Sychem, the family of the Sychemites.

36 To Symaer, the family of the Symaerites; and to Opher, the family of the Opherites.

37 And to Salpaad the son of Opher there were no sons, but daughters: and these were the names of the daughters of Salpaad; Mala, and Nua, and Egla, and Melcha, and Thersa.

38 These are the families of Manasse according to their numbering, fifty-two thousand and seven hundred.

39 And these are the children of Ephraim; to Suthala, the family of the Suthalanites; to Tanach, the family of the Tanachites.

40 These are the sons of Suthala; to Eden, the family of the Edenites.

41 These are the families of Ephraim according to their numbering, thirty-two thousand and five hundred: these are the families of the children of Joseph according to their families.

42 The sons of Benjamin according to their families; to Bale, the family of the Balites; to Asyber, the family of the Asyberites; to Jachiran, the family of the Jachiranites.

43 To Sophan, the family of the Sophanites.

44 And the sons of Bale were Adar and Noeman; to Adar, the family of the Adarites; and to Noeman, the family of the Noemanites.

45 These are the sons of Benjamin by their families according to their numbering, thirty-five thousand and five hundred.

46 And the sons of Dan according to their families; to Same, the family of the Sameites; these are the families of Dan according to their families.

47 All the families of Samei according to their numbering, sixty-four thousand and four hundred.

48 The sons of Nephthali according to their families; to Asiel, the family of the Asielites; to Gauni, the family of the Gaunites.

49 To Jeser, the family of the Jeserites; to Sellem, the family of the Sellemites.

50 These are the families of Nephthali, according to their numbering, forty thousand and three hundred.

51 This is the numbering of the children of Israel, six hundred and one thousand and seven hundred and thirty.

52 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying,

53 To these the land shall be divided, so that they may inherit according to the number of the names.

54 To the greater number thou shalt give the greater inheritance, and to the less number thou shalt give the less inheritance: to each one, as they have been numbered, shall their inheritance be given.

55 The land shall be divided to the names by lot, they shall inherit according to the tribes of their families.

56 Thou shalt divide their inheritance by lot between the many and the few.

57 And the sons of Levi according to their families; to Gedson, the family of the Gedsonites; to Caath, the family of the Caathites; to Merari, the family of the Merarites.

58 These are the families of the sons of Levi; the family of the Lobenites, the family of the Chebronites, the family of the Coreites, and the family of the Musites; and Caath begot Amram.

59 And the name of his wife was Jochabed, daughter of Levi, who bore these to Levi in Egypt, and she bore to Amram, Aaron and Moses, and Mariam their sister.

60 And to Aaron were born both Nadab and Abiud, and Eleazar, and Ithamar.

61 And Nadab and Abiud died when they offered strange fire before the Lord in the wilderness of Sinai.

62 And there were according to their numbering, twenty-three thousand, every male from a month old and upward; for they were not numbered among the children of Israel, because they have no inheritance in the midst of the children of Israel.

63 And this is the numbering of Moses and Eleazar the priest, who numbered the children of Israel in Araboth of Moab, at Jordan by Jericho.

64 And among these there was not a man numbered by Moses and Aaron, whom, even the children of Israel, they numbered in the wilderness of Sinai.

65 For the Lord said to them, They shall surely die in the wilderness; and there was not left even one of them, except Chaleb the son of Jephonne, and Joshua the son of Naue.

And the daughters of Salpaad the son of Opher, the son of Galaad, the son of Machir, of the tribe of Manasse, of the sons of Joseph, came near; and these were their names, Maala, and Nua, and Egla, and Melcha, and Thersa;

2 and they stood before Moses, and before Eleazar the priest, and before the princes, and before all the congregation at the door of the tabernacle of witness, saying,

3 Our father died in the wilderness, and he was not in the midst of the congregation that rebelled against the Lord in the gathering of Core; for he died for his own sin, and he had no sons. Let not the name of our father be blotted out of the midst of his people, because he has no son: give us an inheritance in the midst of our father’s brethren.

4 And Moses brought their case before the Lord.

5 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying,

6 The daughters of Salpaad have spoken rightly: thou shalt surely give them a possession of inheritance in the midst of their father’s brethren, and thou shalt assign their father’s inheritance to them.

7 And thou shalt speak to the children of Israel, saying,

8 If a man die, and have no son, ye shall assign his inheritance to his daughter.

9 And if he have no daughter, ye shall give his inheritance to his brother.

10 And if he have no brethren, ye shall give his inheritance to his father’s brother.

11 And if there be no brethren of his father, ye shall give the inheritance to his nearest relation of his tribe, to inherit his possessions; and this shall be to the children of Israel an ordinance of judgment, as the Lord commanded Moses.

12 And the Lord said to Moses, Go up to the mountain that is in the country beyond Jordan, this mount Nabau, and behold the land Chanaan, which I give to the sons of Israel for a possession.

13 And thou shalt see it, and thou also shalt be added to thy people, as Aaron thy brother was added to them in mount Or:

14 because ye transgressed my commandment in the wilderness of Sin, when the congregation resisted and refused to sanctify me; ye sanctified me not at the water before them. This is the water of Strife in Cades in the wilderness of Sin.

15 And Moses said to the Lord,

16 Let the Lord God of spirits and of all flesh look out for a man over this congregation,

17 who shall go out before them, and who shall come in before them, and who shall lead them out, and who shall bring them in; so the congregation of the Lord shall not be as sheep without a shepherd.

18 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, Take to thyself Joshua the son of Naue, a man who has the Spirit in him, and thou shalt lay thy hands upon him.

19 And thou shalt set him before Eleazar the priest, and thou shalt give him a charge before all the congregation, and thou shalt give a charge concerning him before them.

20 And thou shalt put of thy glory upon him, that the children of Israel may hearken to him.

21 And he shall stand before Eleazar the priest, and they shall ask of him before the Lord the judgment of the Urim: they shall go forth at his word, and at his word they shall come in, he and the children of Israel with one accord, and all the congregation.

22 And Moses did as the Lord commanded him; and he took Joshua, and set him before Eleazar the priest, and before all the congregation.

23 And he laid his hands on him, and appointed him as the Lord ordered Moses.

And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying,

2 Charge the children of Israel, and thou shalt speak to them, saying, Ye shall observe to offer to me in my feasts my gifts, my presents, my burnt-offerings for a sweet-smelling savour.

3 And thou shalt say to them, These are the burnt-offerings, all that ye shall bring to the Lord; two lambs of a year old without blemish daily, for a whole-burnt offering perpetually.

4 Thou shalt offer one lamb in the morning, and thou shalt offer the second lamb towards evening.

5 And thou shalt offer the tenth part of an ephah of fine flour for a meat-offering, mingled with oil, with the fourth part of a hin.

6 It is a perpetual whole-burnt-offering, a sacrifice offered in the mount of Sina for a sweet-smelling savour to the Lord.

7 And its drink-offering, the fourth part of a hin to each lamb; in the holy place shalt thou pour strong drink as a drink-offering to the Lord.

8 And the second lamb thou shalt offer toward evening; thou shalt offer it according to its meat-offering and according to its drink-offering for a smell of sweet savour to the Lord.

9 And on the sabbath-day ye shall offer two lambs of a year old without blemish, and two tenth deals of fine flour mingled with oil for a meat-offering, and a drink-offering.

10 It is a whole-burnt-offering of the sabbaths on the sabbath days, besides the continued whole-burnt-offering, and its drink offering.

11 And at the new moons ye shall bring a whole-burnt-offering to the Lord, two calves of the herd, and one ram, seven lambs of a year old without blemish.

12 Three tenth deals of fine flour mingled with oil for one calf, and two tenth deals of fine flour mingled with oil for one ram.

13 A tenth deal of fine flour mingled with oil for each lamb, as a meat-offering, a sweet-smelling savour, a burnt-offering to the Lord.

14 Their drink-offering shall be the half of a hin for one calf; and the third of a hin for one ram; and the fourth part of a hin of wine for one lamb: this is the whole-burnt-offering monthly throughout the months of the year.

15 And he shall offer one kid of the goats for a sin-offering to the Lord; it shall be offered beside the continual whole-burnt-offering and its drink-offering.

16 And in the first month, on the fourteenth day of the month, is the passover to the Lord.

17 And on the fifteenth day of this month is a feast; seven days ye shall eat unleavened bread.

18 And the first day shall be to you a holy convocation; ye shall do no servile work.

19 And ye shall bring whole-burnt-offerings, a sacrifice to the Lord, two calves of the herd, one ram, seven lambs of a year old; they shall be to you without blemish.

20 And their meat-offering shall be fine flour mingled with oil; three tenth deals for one calf, and two tenth deals for one ram.

21 Thou shalt offer a tenth for each lamb, for the seven lambs.

22 And thou shalt offer one kid of the goats for a sin-offering, to make atonement for you.

23 Beside the perpetual whole-burnt-offering in the morning, which is a whole-burnt-sacrifice for a continuance,

24 these shall ye thus offer daily for seven days, a gift, a sacrifice for a sweet-smelling savour to the Lord; beside the continual whole-burnt-offering, thou shalt offer its drink-offering.

25 And the seventh day shall be to you a holy convocation; ye shall do no servile work in it.

26 And on the day of the new corn, when ye shall offer a new sacrifice at the festival of weeks to the Lord, there shall be to you a holy convocation; ye shall do no servile work,

27 and ye shall bring whole-burnt-offerings for a sweet-smelling savour to the Lord, two calves of the herd, one ram, seven lambs without blemish.

28 Their meat-offering shall be fine flour mingled with oil; there shall be three tenth deals for one calf, and two tenth deals for one ram.

29 A tenth for each lamb separately, for the seven lambs; and a kid of the goats,

30 for a sin-offering, to make atonement for you; beside the perpetual whole-burnt-offering: and

31 ye shall offer to me their meat-offering. They shall be to you unblemished, and ye shall offer their drink-offerings.

And in the seventh month, on the first day of the month, there shall be to you a holy convocation: ye shall do no servile work: it shall be to you a day of blowing the trumpets.

2 And ye shall offer whole-burnt-offerings for a sweet savour to the Lord, one calf of the herd, one ram, seven lambs of a year old without blemish.

3 Their meat-offering shall be fine flour mingled with oil; three tenth deals for one calf, and two tenth deals for one ram:

4 a tenth deal for each several ram, for the seven lambs.

5 And one kid of the goats for a sin-offering, to make atonement for you.

6 Beside the whole-burnt-offerings for the new moon, and their meat-offerings, and their drink-offerings, and their perpetual whole-burnt-offering; and their meat-offerings and their drink-offerings according to their ordinance for a sweet-smelling savour to the Lord.

7 And on the tenth of this month there shall be to you a holy convocation; and ye shall afflict your souls, and ye shall do no work.

8 And ye shall bring near whole-burnt-offerings for a sweet-smelling savour to the Lord; burnt-sacrifices to the Lord, one calf of the herd, one ram, seven lambs of a year old; they shall be to you without blemish.

9 Their meat-offering shall be fine flour mingled with oil; three tenth deals for one calf, and two tenth deals for one ram.

10 A tenth deal for each several lamb, for the seven lambs.

11 And one kid of the goats for a sin-offering, to make atonement for you; beside the sin-offering for atonement, and the continual whole-burnt-offering, its meat-offering, and its drink-offering according to its ordinance for a smell of sweet savour, a burnt-sacrifice to the Lord.

12 And on the fifteenth day of this seventh month ye shall have a holy convocation; ye shall do no servile work; and ye shall keep it a feast to the Lord seven days.

13 And ye shall bring near whole-burnt-offerings, a sacrifice for a smell of sweet savour to the Lord, on the first day thirteen calves of the herd, two rams, fourteen lambs of a year old; they shall be without blemish.

14 their meat-offerings shall be fine flour mingled with oil; there shall be three tenth deals for one calf, for the thirteen calves; and two tenth deals for one ram, for the two rams.

15 A tenth deal for every lamb, for the fourteen lambs.

16 And one kid of the goats for a sin-offering; beside the continual whole-burnt-offering: there shall be their meat-offerings and their drink-offerings.

17 And on the second day twelve calves, two rams, fourteen lambs of a year old without blemish.

18 Their meat-offering and their drink-offering shall be for the calves and the rams and the lambs according to their number, according to their ordinance.

19 And one kid of the goats for a sin-offering; beside the perpetual whole-burnt-offering; their meat-offerings and their drink-offerings.

20 On the third day eleven calves, two rams, fourteen lambs of a year old without blemish.

21 Their meat-offering and their drink-offering shall be to the calves and to the rams and to the lambs according to their number, according to their ordinance.

22 And one kid of the goats for a sin-offering; beside the continual whole-burnt-offering; there shall be their meat-offerings and their drink-offerings.

23 On the fourth day ten calves, two rams, fourteen lambs of a year old without spot.

24 There shall be their meat-offerings and their drink-offerings to the calves and the rams and the lambs according to their number, according to their ordinance.

25 And one kid of the goats for a sin-offering; beside the continual whole-burnt-offering there shall be their meat-offerings and their drink-offerings.

26 On the fifth day nine calves, two rams, fourteen lambs of a year old without spot.

27 Their meat-offerings and their drink-offerings shall be to the calves and the rams and the lambs according to their number, according to their ordinance.

28 And one kid of the goats for a sin-offering; beside the perpetual whole-burnt-offering; there shall be their meat-offerings and their drink-offerings.

29 On the sixth day eight calves, two rams, fourteen lambs of a year old without blemish.

30 There shall be their meat-offerings and their drink-offerings to the calves and rams and lambs according to their number, according to their ordinance.

31 And one kid of the goats for a sin-offering; beside the perpetual whole-burnt-offering; there shall be their meat-offerings and their drink-offerings.

32 On the seventh day seven calves, two rams, fourteen lambs of a year old without blemish.

33 Their meat-offerings and their drink-offerings shall be to the calves and the rams and the lambs according to their number, according to their ordinance.

34 And one kid of the goats for a sin-offering; beside the continual whole-burnt-offering; there shall be their meat-offerings and their drink-offerings.

35 And on the eighth day there shall be to you a release: ye shall do no servile work in it.

36 And ye shall offer whole-burnt-offerings as sacrifices to the Lord, one calf, one ram, seven lambs of a year old without spot.

37 There shall be their meat-offerings and their drink-offerings for the calf and the ram and the lambs according to their number, according to their ordinance.

38 And one kid of the goats for a sin-offering; beside the continual whole-burnt-offering; there shall be their meat-offerings and their drink-offerings.

39 These sacrifices shall ye offer to the Lord in your feasts, besides your vows; and ye shall offer your free-will-offerings and your whole-burnt-offerings, and your meat-offerings and your drink-offerings, and your peace-offerings.

And Moses spoke to the children of Israel according to all that the Lord commanded Moses.

2 And Moses spoke to the heads of the tribes of the children of Israel, saying, This is the thing which the Lord has commanded.

3 Whatsoever man shall vow a vow to the Lord, or swear an oath, or bind himself with an obligation upon his soul, he shall not break his word; all that shall come out of his mouth he shall do.

4 And if a woman shall vow a vow to the Lord, or bind herself with an obligation in her youth in her father’s house; and her father should hear her vows and her obligations, wherewith she has bound her soul, and her father should hold his peace at her, then all her vows shall stand,

5 and all the obligations with which she has bound her soul, shall remain to her.

6 But if her father straitly forbid her in the day in which he shall hear all her vows and her obligations, which she has contracted upon her soul, they shall not stand; and the Lord shall hold her guiltless, because her father forbade her.

7 But if she should be indeed married, and her vows be upon her according to the utterance of her lips, in respect of the obligations which she has contracted upon her soul;

8 and her husband should hear, and hold his peace at her in the day in which he should hear, then thus shall all her vows be binding, and her obligations, which she has contracted upon her soul shall stand.

9 But if her husband should straitly forbid her in the day in which he should hear her, none of her vows or obligations which she has contracted upon her soul shall stand, because her husband has disallowed her, and the Lord shall hold her guiltless.

10 And the vow of a widow and of her that is put away, whatsoever she shall bind upon her soul, shall stand to her.

11 And if her vow be made in the house of her husband, or the obligation upon her soul with an oath,

12 and her husband should hear, and hold his peace at her, and not disallow her, then all her vows shall stand, and all the obligations which she contracted against her soul, shall stand against her.

13 But if her husband should utterly cancel the vow in the day in which he shall hear it, none of the things which shall proceed out of her lips in her vows, and in the obligations contracted upon her soul, shall stand to her; her husband has cancelled them, and the Lord shall hold her guiltless.

14 Every vow, and every binding oath to afflict her soul, her husband shall confirm it to her, or her husband shall cancel it.

15 But if he be wholly silent at her from day to day, then shall he bind upon her all her vows; and he shall confirm to her the obligations which she has bound upon herself, because he held his peace at her in the day in which he heard her.

16 And if her husband should in any wise cancel them after the day in which he heard them, then he shall bear his iniquity.

17 These are the ordinances which the Lord commanded Moses, between a man and his wife, and between a father and daughter in her youth in the house of her father.
