If Jesus died on the cross and spent three days in hell to pay for the
sins of the world, then why would we have to go to hell ourselves and pay
for them again?
Answer to Question 375
Christ didn't spend three days in hell to pay for our sins, he died on the Cross for our sins. He descended to Hades to preach to those who had departed and to give the opportunity to whoever wished to follow him to rise with him to Paradise. They had a choice and we have a choice. The only difference is that we have to make this choice in this life to be with him. If we choose not to be with him then that means we choose to be distant from him which will continue in the other life and this is what we call hell.
Same member but hades is the God of the underworld which is Hell
Reply In Greek mythology Hades is the God of the underworld, but in Christianity we took the word and made it the place where all the souls went before the coming of Christ. Hell is something different which God has created for the devil and his angels in the day of judgement.
