Can music (tasteful) be played in church as the coffin is being carried in and then when everyone consoles the family? There is a reason for this specific question
Answer to Question 343
I have never heard of it being allowed in an Orthodox church and I know we would not allow it at my church. During the time when condolences are being offered, the church has special hymns for this moment (Δεῦτε τελευταῖον ἀσπασμόν). During the time when the coffin is being carried in and before the service it might be allowed, but this is up to the discretion of the priest.
Same member Yeah but would you allow it? If it was the specific wish of the deceased?
Reply I am fairly open minded to many things, but in this case I wouldn't allow it
