Hello Father. This may sound a very simple question that is commonly known. But is there a certain pray that should be said when lighting your candle? Thank you.
Answer to Question 299
There is no specific prayer. We light candles for many reasons and our prayer should reflect what we are seeking with our lighted candle. If we are lighting a candle for our self then we could pray: Lord enlighten me to know thee through the Holy Spirit. If we light a candle for someone who is ill we could ask God to enlighten and heal that person from his or her ailment. If we light a candle for our children we can ask God to enlighten them with the knowledge of truth and to guide them on the path of righteousness. Our prayer reflects the need of the moment
