Father in your opinion has Iconography changed compared to the Byzantine era?

You just have to look at the old Byzantine icons and moderns ones to see that there is a tremendous difference in appearance and technique. The old icons were beautifully executed with so much detail, which today we see that most icon painters have not the skill to imitate. The problem is we no longer have master icon painters. In old times it took years to learn the various techniques required and someone learning iconography spent years as an apprentice. Today people have a few lessons or are self taught and think they can be called icon painters. For me most of the modern icons look more like cartoons
