Good morning pater. In order to attract the younger generation will the Orthodox Church translate the bible into modern Greek in order to fully understand the words and meanings?
Answer to Question 180
In English when we say the Bible we mean both the Old Testament and New Testament and both are readily available as one book. In Greek the two Books are always sold as separate books and in fact it is quite difficult to find the Old Testament in Greek. There are publications available but they are usually with interpretations and can be many volumes. The New Testament on the other hand has many publications in Greek. You can find the New Testament in Greek/ English, the Original Greek side by side with Modern Greek, the original Greek with commentary and interpretation. If someone wants to read the New Testament there is no excuse that he cannot understand the Koine Greek of the Bible because it is available in many forms.
